Havent had a job in 2 years, how can I improve this
Currently 23. I was in college for a bit but I never got anything useful out of it because lazy. I just want a job for the time being. only worked subway for 2 years but that location has since closed down and i dont have contact with older co-workers anymore except one person. Not sure if my own resume is just dog shit but i've only been applying sporadically like once or 5 times a week in the past. recently nothing but i genuinely dont know what the fuck to do right now

> sporadically like once or 5 times a week

From what I hear, that’s not nearly enough.

i graduated high school but i dont know how else i could bloat my resume. i tried making indie games for a bit and doing youtube but i kept getting lazy to finish anything.

i could atleast say i have video editing skills but people look for adobe shit or davinchi

yea i know. the lack of any responses just got to me so maybe again its just the resume itself. I dont even have any references ready to go but i've been told those dont matter

Regardless, you need to try as hard as possible to get a job. It sounds like you are in a downward spiral of decreasing motivation. You need to kick yourself out of that state as soon as possible.

if i can have a lazy ass resume that only dwells on what my past job was about and my education only being i got a diploma, would this even be enough to suffice beyond throwing myself out more

also should i just do more in person applying then opposed to job listings online

i ask this shit because im only now slowly growing out of the rut that is staying home all the time

then you kinda got a larger problem than unemployment, right?

Foodservice jobs are fine if you're broke because you dont go hungry. But if your waking moments are gobbled up by gooning actively or in planning, you're going to have to confront that. otherwise it really won't matter much what you do.

yes, but you'll have to take a shit entry-level position probably for at least a year, and then try to move up, or find a better job with your work experience under your belt.

But again, you gotta seize control of the other stuff first really.

Think the military would take you?

so your saying even if i add more lies and bullshit to the paper i have to do level entry?
Anonymous No.33921684 [Report] >>33921711

the problem with aiming higher is they actually will expect you to deliver.

if the difference between entry level and the next position is team lead, they're actually going to expect you to lead the team from day 1 with no other company development than that if you do manage to get hired.

some people when thrown into the deep end pull thru. most don't.

i get that but im more concerned if my resume is just too dogshit to even be considered

i could post if that helps unless it really dont fuckin matter
Anonymous No.33921729 [Report] >>33922010

the point of an entry level position is that the company expects to develop you to a degree to do the job.

Since your resume is so light, they will be more concerned with your impression(verbal agility, cleanliness, timeliness, flexibility with schedule) and references.

then all i have left to ask for the time being is when should i actually give references in modern applying?

in the resume itself? on the side? how many do I really need?

well, honestly the digital and online application only is a meat grinder. Don't limit yourself to those kinds of jobs. Look more at the super local places that don't have a national presence.

Like; if you're trying for inside/indoors and office-type work, look for clerical positions for something like.... your local plumber or roofer.

A place where you have to face someone to even apply for the job is best , and build your nerve up and then sell yourself to them.

but what about the resume itself, like how important really is that in the grand scheme of the overall key to getting your foot in the door
Anonymous No.33922201 [Report] >>33922317
>>33922157

oh, directly proportional to the likelyhood of a real person looking at it.

So in my scenario? Very high importance. Like, if they use a written application still, even your handwriting is important, type stuff. If you give a good initial impression but your application history is thin, they will for sure contact your references because they got nothing else to go on. (And if your impression was bad, they wont bother)

but like, the app kiosk at Target, or the 'careers' link on a national website? especially in your case? very very low.

still dont get it, so if im bum fuck nothing to show for, level entry jobs regardless if its in person or not wouldn't prioritize it too much?
