Is my therapist allowed to call me lazy?
Like is that professional? Are you supposed to be able to do that? Because my current therapist who I've been seeing for about 6 months once a week by now knows about my issues related to depression, anxiety, adhd, ocd, bipolar, autism, schizophrenia, schizoaffective, etc (I'm not exaggerating by the way my brain truly IS just THAT fucked up, they are all official diagnoses) and how they pretty much kill any motivation I have to do shit including very basic hygiene and stuff, with my teeth and skin being so fucked up because of so much neglect to hygiene. And I've been struggling to do very basic tasks my therapist assigns me and therefore not making much progress if any at all. I do generally feel better after talking to her though.
But anyways about a week ago or so my therapist asked me "Okay, so let's think about this for a minute. So how do you know the issue with all this lack of motivation and hygiene neglect is ACTUALLY caused by the depression and schizophrenia and all your other diagnoses and NOT just simply caused by laziness?" And then giggled and put both hands up to her mouth like an innocent but mischievous school girl, as if she had just asked a gotcha question she knew I wouldn't be able to answer properly. And I wasn't able to really. All I really was able to say was "It's possible that that's correct but I know mental illness can be a cause for these things." And she said "Well regardless of mental illness or just laziness you still need to put in the effort."
Personally I found the question low-key offensive even if it wasn't her intent. It just kind of felt like she was disregarding everything I ever told her for the last 6 months I've known her for and just reducing it down to simple laziness. Not sure if that was her intent but it felt like it.

I'd say rather unprofessional and it does feel dismissive, she knows about your issues and honestly calling someone lazy is not really a motivator so what was she even thinking? Those disorders do make it harder to form habits, find motivation and begin tasks.
Simply "laziness" hardly explains anything.
Maybe ask her for clarification.

doesn't sound like she called you lazy from the way you're describing it. sounds like she just asked you a question to think about and consider. a therapist's job is to challenge you and your beliefs after all. if they just agreed with whatever you said it'd be pointless

Maybe she used the wrong word but she’s not wrong. Regardless of the reason why you haven’t accomplished anything, the only solution is to put in the work.
Instead of focusing on whether or not your therapist is being rude, you should focus on yourself. No one can force you to do anything you don’t want to.

You do realize that in the time you've spent so far wondering if your therapist is allowed to call you lazy you could've spent your time doing something more productive, you do realize that right? Ironically or not this is the same shit your therapist is talking about. Based therapist. Retarded patient.

A therapist can't fix you, they can only help you fix yourself. If you're just not participating and not doing anything, well there is shit all she can do. Its not really professional, but I know therapists sometimes end treatment if its hopeless, and perhaps that was her way to vent frustration.
If you deflect every attempt to improve with "but Im crazy", then you might as well quit therapy.
But mayhaps look for someone else.

Professional or not your therapist is not wrong. A therapist is supposed to be more of a guide to you but most of the work is still done by you. A therapist is basically the cheerleader but you're the key player. If you're paying a therapist to talk to you but are not doing anything to improve your situation then you might as well literally just be throwing your money away in the garbage and burning it.

this.
6 months should be enough time (provided they aren't a shit therapist) to separate your dysfunction from your refusal to do anything about any of your dysfunctions.
at a certain point, laziness actually is on the table, OP

Well if you're LAZY Anon then that's pretty much the worst thing a person can be and there's not much you or your therapist can do about that.
So the first and only step is to stop being LAZY. A lazy person might as well be a dead person. Once you stop being lazy everything else will follow.
