Owls freak me out. They look really weird and act strange. And the fact that they can spin their heads 180Β° is also kind of creepy.

I've never seen one IRL though.

I had barn owls living in an old shed years ago that were unfortunately chased away by bluejays. I also like the great horned owl. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LOH9paYtV8

There's some pygmy owls that live in my area, they've raised babies a few years in a birdhouse in the front yard. I've seen a few larger ones getting harried by bluejays, but I'm not wholly sure what kind they were

Welp another year another thread another crack at trying to get some useful information out of you birdfuckers. How do I get rid of some owls without harming them? I don't care if you love owls. I don't care if you think they're the most wonderful things on Earth. I know that they are just acting in their natural way, but it just so happens their natural way of life makes them a fucking nuisance and I need them gone. I tried music but the neighbors complained. I hung CDs and milk jugs up everywhere and it didn't do shit and I got a fine from the HOA. I got rid of the trees on my property but the owls just started scraping and honking on the roof. I filled in my pool but there's a creek only about a mile away, I found out. I even tried putting up a Japanese deer scare thing but the owls ignored it and the stupid neighbor kid hit it with his lawnmower the day after I installed it. Please, I'm begging you, it has been three years. I am so tired of owls. I need to sleep.

Aw man OP. You opened up some wounds. 2 weeks ago was walking around our property when I saw what I thought to be a cat sitting looking at squirrels. Turned out to be this girl. She was clearly hurt so I took her to bird vet asap. Not sure if they had to put her down but we were surprised to learn she was still alive when we got there. Truly Alien species.

I'm interested in the eyes of the owl.
I know they have a third eyelid they can blink like an alligator. What other eye facts are there?
I've never seen the whites of an owl's eye, do they even have whites?
I know they can see well in darkness, but how well can they see in the daylight?

Long eared owls are nesting every year close to my bedroom window.
The young ones get pretty loud at night when they scream for food so I have to use ear plugs to get some sleep.

Going to post some pics I took a few years ago.

I used to visit a barn owl every night and it became relatively tame and would let me walk right up to it. I wasn't willing to risk touching it and getting mauled though. The downtown area of my city is abandoned and in a state of decay so you can find a lot of wildlife there.
