Retvrn to tradition guys want orange Street lights back because they're nostalgic I want them back because they're better for the environment due to their lights being less disruptive for the wild life. Advocate for orange and ember led lights to save the wild life

Philips stopped producing those bulbs about a decade ago, I guess most others too.
That's also why you see more and more roads of these lamps with failing ones because they have trouble sourcing spare bulbs by now and also probably don't have the funds yet to replace them with the awful china LEDs (which often turn purple after just 3 years lmao)

Whatever the color temperature, I'd be happier with fixtures that focus all the light downward, even if only for the sake of night sky views. I can hardly see the stars at night through my north facing windows because some prick installed about 1500 watts of those giant ass mercury vapor ones meant for industrial sites for his 24-hour automatic car wash on the opposite end of a 10 acre field. It looks hideous, never mind the waste of electricity. Everyone who lives in the area hates the sight of them.

So when a street light stops working how do they know? Is the grid reporting that back with a censor or do you call it in or what?

Trust me, there are more than enough Karens out there to report the ones out in residential areas. Along major thoroughfares I imagine routine inspections are a thing.

Yes.
Every city has a mission control room where the entire grid of street lamps is on a huge map and the millisecond one goes out the room darkens and loud sirens start blaring with red ALERT signs flashing all over the building

As the other guy already said. They usually only really care either if it's an upper class area where investors put high pressure into the place looking pristine or if just enough people point it out to them.
I many places fucked up street lamps just stay fucked for years even.

Nothing stops LED manufacturers from using full bridge rectifiers (reduces EMF) and a coating to tint thr LED orange.

It was so cozy seeing stark white snow on either a cloudy day or with the sun glistening on it and then night comes and you have that nice orange glow on it

I think it's just city maintenance trucks driving around on patrols looking for this shit. It's the kind of thing they'll have found and fixed within a few hours, provided its an area that actually cares about maintaining basic infrastructure.

Seriously, I've been thinking about doing away with streetlights in cities for a while now, leaving only reflective signs to guide vehicles. Maybe it would be good for the population's psyche to have a constant glimpse of the sublime in the night sky.

All these fucking broken lights turning purple. Ive never seen this happen with any other led light besides streetlights. Its so retarded. Im guessing its some weird rgb thing and the green keeps exploding.

no lights on my street, but neighbor houses mostly have big flood lights they leave on until like midnight for no good reason. I have solar motion lights, it's good enough if I'm out past dark they will light the way up to the house.

street lamps are usually installed for safety (read: visibility) and the old-style bulbs had just about as bad a color rending index as they could possibly have. frankly itโ€™s astounding we used them in the first place.
