Welp it's bc the spectrum of Herbivores and Carnivores is less of a black n' white situation and more of a shade of grades thing. Both carnivores and herbivores have the obvious type that can only eat meat/plants that we all know and then there's the ones that can also eat from the other spectrum bc they need some nutrients and their stomachs have the capability to process that. I'm not a biologist, but there's this classic saying that ''all animals are omnivores''. Deer also do this behaviour & rabbits have been known to chew on bones for nutrition. If it's easy to catch & edible there's nothing stopping it from eating it. Meat is more nutritious & has more calories than than more plant matter like grass.
