Mikayla ran a not-for-profit called 'Save A fox' where she would rescue (buy) foxes from fur farms to give them better lives at her rescue. She got huge on social media and decided to quit her job and make her money entirely from donations. She truly did want to do the right thing.
But it kind of all goes downhill. First of all, Mikayla did not house those foxes properly. A lot of foxes were kept in homes as pets, which is bad because, you know, they're not pets. Foxes don't thrive in a home environment, and the ones that were kept in outdoor enclosures were not given quite enough space or enrichment, and escaped and got injured frequently due to the inadequate fencing. Despite this, Mikayla would continuosly buy new foxes. Foxes would get fobbed off to other ''''rescues'''' so who knows what happened to half of them. They would get worms and get injured, in one instance Mikayla housed a new cub in with an adult who previously injured a cub.
But thats not all! Completely aside from the 'rescue' she ran, Mikayla also hoarded pets. Mikayla had several:
>Dogs
>Cats
>Game birds (chickens, quails, pheasants)
>Reptiles (Multiple lizards and a fucking retic)
>Horses
>Jackals
>A fennec fox
>Fisher cats
>Pine martins
>Ferrets
And probably more, there's a fucking spreadsheet out there somewhere.
As you can probably tell if you have half a brain, these animals did not recieve adequate care. Mikayla would constantly cry on social media about needing more money to rescue more foxes, and then would use that money to buy another exotic pet that her and her husband were inequipped to own and care for properly, leading to it's suffering or death.
In response to this, redditors launched a sub-reddit that was initially (iirc, i only heard about it yesterday but i've done some snooping) dedicated to cataloguing the neglect of her animals, but then slowly descended into r/childfree levels of insane hateposting, as subreddits often do.
