Fluffy snow leopard edition. Post big cats, small wildcats, or anything vaguely feline that isn't a domestic cat.
thank you for implicitly acknowledging that pumas and cheetahs are NOT real big cats and are destined to be mankinds goofy housepets and condemned to a life of leashed walks and emotional support dogs
>>5007344Huh, didn't know that googas could also have emotional support dogs, cool.
>>5007359I hate seeing animals in cages, especially large ones
>>5007555Despite all your rage, they'll still just be cats in a cage
>>5007555They should be warming human laps
>>5007555begging someone to put you in a cage 555aggot
At this point I need to start downscaling my photos so they're under 4mbs, because I know I'm just reposting my big cat pics that happened to be within the file size limit
>>5007330 (OP)The jaguar is the best feline that exists and you cannot prove otherwise.
>>5007344>>5007352>pumas are known to wait in trees and drop down on unsuspecting prey from above>they have done this to humansAustralia has dropbears, we have droplions.
>>5008334They're pretty great, and the cubs are adorable
Consider this dorky tiger
>>5007555How are large cages worse?
>>5007555I saw a video earlier today of an Indian giant squirrel on a leash. It was freaking the FUCK out and looked like it was going to hurt itself and the Indians were justb kinda talking like this obviously tried existence for the squirrel was perfectly normal to them. As soon as I saw the squirrel lose its shut like that, I closed the window. It was an 11 minute video and I could barely get 2 minutes in before feeling such intense empathy for the fluffy fuck that I had to stop the video before I have myself a panic attack.
So I know what you mean.
The cage thing is the main reason I won't get a ferret or birdn or small mammal. I feel like it'd be torturous to them. : (

I love the fur patterns of the Andean Mountain Cat, wish there were more pictures of them around. Probably the cat that's hardest to find decent photos of.
>fishing cat
>it fishes
gotta love creativity in animal naming
Are Jaguars considered big cats
>>5009346literally the jaguar is the third largest feline.
>>5009358Wasn't aware of how big it was
Black footed cat. Very, very smol
>>5009557That one looks so bored, "another day another caiman" type of face
>>5009561You have the right to look bored if you're hunting alligators in the water.
>>5009336That's gonna be me after a plate of ribs this Friday : )
>>5008540What cat cubs aren't adorable?
>>5009842You know, that's a fair point, they're cute by default
>>5009927You call that housecat "big"? Now THIS is true mass!
>>5007330 (OP)which feline won the evolutionary race?
You know, who has the best weapons, the best defenses, the best adaptability, the highest success rate?
>>5010702The housecat
It has no survival instincts and can not establish a wild population anywhere with predators. The only reason domestic dogs haven't eaten the entire species is because humans think they're cute and raise cats and dogs together to maximize the cuteness. They outnumber every other feline on earth combined.
>>5010718They absolutely can establish themselves as pests just about anywhere, Australia has a major feral cat problem. Even the regions surrounding African villages have feral cat colonies right alongside native African wildlife; conservation groups worry about the African wildcat (the wild precursor to modern domestic cats, picrel is an African wildcat) because they can interbreed with feral domestics and pollute their gene pool. I love cats but for fucks sake, keep them indoors.
>>50108281: when dingo control halts australian feral cat populations vanish
2: thats from humans dumping them in the wild so they breed with real cats before they get murked

>>5010702I choose the jaguar.
It dominates its territory,
walks, swims, climbs, and eats everything I find thanks to my powerful bite.
Not to mention that it's quite impressive that the jaguar dares to fight in the water.

>>5010702I'd say the lion because it's the coolest and my favorite
>>5010889Ok, but do you have any opinions other than "I like it"?
>>5010910hehe silly social cat, what are they doing being social and living in groups and shit?
>>5010921I like to think that lions evolved to have some canine characteristics.
>>5010702Aside from domestic cats/African wildcats (for obvious reasons), I'd say leopards. Not just present in Africa but India and Russia as well. Far greater range than all other Pantherans. Extremely adaptable and can easily avoid conflict with humans by hiding out in trees.
>>5011049>Far greater range than all other Pantherans. The feline with the largest distribution area is the puma (Puma concolor). It ranges from Canada to Patagonia in South America, making it the wild land mammal with the widest distribution on the continent.
Truly the most SMASHED and SLAMMED cat
>>5011398I always wondered how pumas as a species got by in the pleistocene when there were more big cat species in the americas like lions, jaguars, American cheetahs, and sabertooth cats. You'd figure they'd be hard pressed for food with all that competition
>>5011398Pumas are members of Felinae, not Pantherinae. They are not pantherans.
>>5011795They may have had a more specialized niche back then, compared to the widespread generalist predators they are now. There's plenty of small cat biodiversity in South America and Africa, but each one is better enough than everyone else at something to allow them to survive.
>>5011795How do bobcats today get by with black and brown bears, wolves, coyotes, and pumas? There's enough food to go around.
>>5010718>It has no survival instinctsnigger what do think "survival instinct" is?
>>5011821>WolvesDon't wolves go after bigger prey like ungulates tho? I mean I've heard of bobcats going after fawns but they usually stick to smaller prey
>>5011992>Don't wolves go after bigger prey like ungulates tho?but wolves hunt in packs.
>showing the hitman his next target
If you could choose any wild feline to have "domestically" (lives in your home, litter trained, friendly + won't attack people you have over, etc), which would you choose? I'd pick a snow leopard. Perfect companion for walks during winter, fluffy and playful, plus a perfect deterrent against home intruders. I know they're timid, but even still, if you break into someone's house then see a fucking snow leopard, it's probably time to leave.
>>5012260They look like goobers but have fun personalities. Clouded leopards, jaguars and pumas look cooler but idk anything about their personalities at all and the only "pet" caracal I've seen hates all life.
Still, I couldn't afford to feed a big cat. A bobcat or lynx would be fine for me.

>>5013028It's such a ridiculous pose. Do any other big cats do it to get a little extra height?
I can't wait to go to the zoo again, it's been about a year since my last visit to one.
>>5011992I'm sure the bigger cat species also fed on bigger prey than mountain lions did
>>5010702The tiger on an individual perspective without human persecution was doing incredibly well for a solo predator and repeatedly outcompeted any other predatory species.
Lions overall were the most successful of Panthera; social and cooperative pantherines turned out to be a cheat code.
I don't think I'll ever have this. It isn't a 0% chance but it isn't much higher than 0.1% chance it happens.
>>5014582The person taking the photos interrupted his nap.
Anyone have the pet cougar screenshot?
>>5016197This makes me very angry.
>>5016197Me too.
And I can't help but think of the possibility that the poor thing has been declawed, defanged, and is slightly drugged too.
>>5016197>>5016838It is drugged, I forgot what it's called but it makes the animal nauseous of it moves too much.
>>5016197you think you hate Arabs enough, but you don't
I fucking love pumas bros
>>5008562Oh no, they are evolving!
I always found it strange that lions have more facial expressions than other big cats.
>>5019469It makes sense. Of all the big cats, they are the only ones that live together in packs.
>>5019484That guy has this face like "TAKE THE FUCKING PICTURE, CAN'T YOU SEE I'M SCARED?!"

The King makes other people feel like Kings.
You guys ever see a video and channel that boils your blood because of the obvious animal cruelty on display that's unlikely to be taken down because the animal isn't a domesticated one?

>>5007352Why is the cat smol to the dog? Isn't panthera supposed to be bigger than any species of canid?
>>5020743Nope; snow leopards, for example, are considerably smaller than some dogs. Cats like leopards look bigger than in most pictures because they're typically photographed from far away, necessitating a zoom lens which has the effect of making the subject look "wider". In person you realize that they're actually smaller than some really big dog breeds. Luna (the one with the Rottweiler friend) was also an orphan and had to be hand-raised by her owner, and she ended up being a little smaller than a typical leopard. Messi the puma is a similar story, he had some health issues at birth and that resulted in him being a lot smaller than most coogs.
Funny how I went from big cats being my favorite predators as a kid, to being a wolfaboo as a teen, and then doing a complete 180 back to preferring big cats as an adult
