Testudine history has always been extremely foggy but most genetic evidence always aligns them in the Archelosauria clade so not directly archosaurs like birds, dinos and crocodiles but closely related. It really throws you in for a loop how these rocks with legs are more genetically related to chickens than they are to lizards.
