Which dog embodies the Korean twink phenotype?
There are only 10 legitimately intelligent dog breeds, and if they’re not on this list, they don’t matter.
1. Bloodhound: Smarter than you, and better at finding lost stuff.
2. Basset Hound: Bloodhound’s low-rider cousin. Not stubborn just refuses to waste energy.
3. Otterhound: A shaggy Bloodhound kin with aquatic tracking skills.
4. St. Hubert Hound: The medieval ancestor of the Bloodhound.
5. Artois Hound: French scenthound descending from St. Hubert stock.
6. Grand Bleu de Gascogne: Shares ancestry with the St. Hubert Hound.
7. Petit Bleu de Gascogne: The smaller, version of the Grand Bleu.
8. Porcelaine: Ancient French hound from the same scenthound family tree.
9. Alpine Dachsbracke: Bloodhound-influenced dwarf tracking dog.
10. Segugio Italiano: Ancient Mediterranean scenthound, with Bloodhound ancestry through old European hound stock.
>>5017157All of these are fucking retarded and a lot of them are so hideously deformed they should be banned and neutered outright with no chance of outcrossing
The reason superior dogs like belgian shepherds are hard to own is because more intelligent animals are actually less naturally obedient, even if they are bred to be obsessive and neurotic, unless you can provide a superior mind with the superior stimulation it requires.
>>5017158to be fair some hounds are hard to own because they're actually too retarded
zero thoughts zero physical activity, but they still get up to poop on the floor and then eat it
>>5017158>My insecure working-line shepherd makes me feel special so every other breed should be erasedFunny how the same people preaching about intelligence always confuse obedience with independent problem-solving. Scenthounds weren’t bred to stare at you waiting for commands, they were trusted to track criminals, missing people, and game solo across miles without a handler micromanaging them.
Your neurotic malinshit might be good at agility trials and living in a crate, but call me when it can solve a week-old cold trail in the Alps without frying its brain.
Different dogs, different jobs. Cope harder.
>>5017160>my retarded deformed mutt has INDEPENDENT PROBLEM SOLVING!With huscucks, I can at least believe this cope applies to some of them because many huskies are mixed with wolves, german shepherds, malinois, and even gun dogs (which unlike scenthounds, are also intelligent, and have more non-deformed lineages).
Bloodhounds are not independent problem solvers. Their tracking is the result of a retarded brain being extremely single minded. They never leave the scent trail because they have no attention span beyond it. They are too stupid to survive and notoriously have a hard time figuring any actual problems out. It's the dog equivalent of a retarded man who when told to sort garbage, will gladly sort garbage for 12 hours without getting bored or wanting to do something else.
>>5017160even the smartest dogs are kind of retarded so some really shit jobs only work with a dog that is literally too stupid to do more than one thing
lsgds are kind of stupid too
>>5017157I don't know about intelligence, but there's a Basset on my delivery route that's always happy to see me.
>>5017161You’ve confused obsessive-compulsive fixation with >le higher intelligence. That’s cute. Bloodhounds aren’t designed to juggle balls or obey bite commands, they’re built to track scent over days and they do it with almost no human input.
That’s actual intelligence: task persistence without handler crutches. Not every dog needs to be a furry Navy SEAL to be smart.
And the cope about physical soundness? Most shepherds today have backs sloped like ski jumps and hips that shatter at age 5, but sure let’s pretend deformity is exclusive to scenthounds.
You can seethe all you want. Bloodhounds will keep solving cases while your overbred anxiety missile eats drywall.
My dog named leo is smarter and more biddable than my fat husky mutt. I like them both, but the husky barks at things that do not matter. Leo does not bark at things that do not matter. Thank you.

>>5017514not if your dog is leo no
You have aroused the bureaucratic powers and upset the cosmological lattice by abandoning your post as a coded entity
I honestly despise this breed. Every time I see a dog attack at the massive, 20 acre off-leash park I go to, it's a GSD.
Every. Single. Time.
Today I watched two completely separate dog attacks that were 100% unprovoked & instigated by different GSDs. There were 6 German Shepherds there today & all but one was dog aggressive. They were horrible attacks carried out with the exact same mannerisms. Run the other dog down, grab its leg & drag it to the ground screaming, then maul. I watched this happen twice today alone. I usually avoid that park because, well, there are a lot of German Shepherds but I let my friend convince me.
When I was a child, I was attacked by a loose GSD walking home from school. The dog grabbed me by the shoulder & shook me like a rag doll while the useless owner screamed "he's friendly." I had to go to the ER over this mind you. It wasn't a minor boo boo. Nothing would dissuade this GSD either. My grandmother was hitting & slamming it with her purse, it didn't even listen to its useless owner. That dog latched on & shook me hard.
>>5017525So, I figure I'm biased because this owner was terrible & therefore had a terrible dog. And normally that holds true - but 95% of my encounters with this breed have been negative. Aren't these dogs that need a job? Isn't there a reason they compete in Schutzhund? Why the hell do people get them as companions?
I used to be a dog walker & had a strict "No GSDs" policy. So, I've had exposure to a lot of breeds. I don't even see Pit Bulls half as dangerous as these dogs. Certain pitties couldn't be around other dogs but unless they're abused horribly, I don't find myself fearing for my safety. Also, I've found pittie owners to be the most responsible of all.
Could someone please explain to me what I'm missing? Or am I not missing anything? They make great police & attack dogs. Isn't that what they are meant to do? Why are they being bred as family dogs then? And why are they allowed to go to homes with owners who cannot handle them? I feel as though there should be restrictions on owning this breed. Yet, only Pits seem to be banned in certain cities. Can anyone explain why?
I'm terrified of this breed. I hope I don't come off as attacking GSD owners. I'm genuinely trying to understand why on god's green earth anyone would own one who didn't have it for a specific, working purpose.
>>5017525>>5017527They look so beautiful, though. Very photogenic tongues.
>>5017525I have similar problems but with huskies. Huskies are, 100%, always friendly with people. But they are ALWAYS super alpha with other dogs and start fights at the dog park.
Huskies despise unfamiliar dogs. Please keep them with your family and only introduce them with people. If you let them into a park with a bunch of strange dogs the first thing your husky will try to do is become the leader. Stop.
My french bulldog? Yeah, he's vibing and gives off BIG DAWG energy. What's he eating? A freaking top sirloin with a quail egg.
>>5017527I've only seen well behaved gsds walking around with their owners. I usually say the popularity of them has led to a lot of bad breeding practice and bad ownership, which I think is pretty true for ALL popular dogs. They are excellent family dogs and mine has been pretty easy to keep after raising him properly, but they really need a good upbringing and poorly bred gsd can have some pretty serious behavioral problems. They've been in the top 5 most popular breeds in america for basically a century at this point.
The husky mutt I have is worse behaved, and significantly more aggressive than my gsd has ever been. Same with my great pyrenees. Unfortunately I wasn't able to train either of those dogs as puppies and correctly raise them, but I have to put up with their behavior now that they are mine.
I used to go to a GSD training/socialization thing held by my breeder and there would usually be 10-15 gsd all in a single somewhat small fenced in area. There was only really one intact male that would show any actual aggression, but it wasn't a common thing. All of the gsds in the training thing ranged from reasonably well behaved to perfect behavior.
Unfortunate your experience has been so bad with them. They can be incredible dogs.
>>5017543Are you the homosexual who adopted his brothers husky/pyr mix? That's a nightmare mutt
>let's take the smart, independent dog that doesn't like other dogs>and mix it with the dumb, independent aggressive dog that doesn't like people
>>5017527>>5017536Heres my theory on the matter:
People often misunderstand dogs, which can lead to troubling situations. An emerging trend is that many people downplay the potential dangers their dogs may pose, often dismissing signs of aggression with phrases like, "Oh, they're just playing." This lack of understanding can result in serious issues being overlooked.
This cultural shift began with the rise of at-home training programs. Nowadays, dog owners can learn to train their pets without seeking the help of certified trainers or behaviorists, relying instead on home videos or YouTube tutorials. Many people fail to grasp the concept of thresholds, which is a significant problem in the domestic dog training community. If your dog cannot handle being around other dogs, it's best to avoid the dog park. Training should take place within the threshold your dog can handle.
Looking back to the 1990s, owners of breeds like Rottweilers and German Shepherds were typically more aware of their dogs' strength and potential danger, and they were not hesitant to acknowledge that reality. Unfortunately, this awareness seems to have faded over time.
>>5017546I dont know what breed it is. Maybe husky mutt, maybe samoyed, idk.
The previous owner found her abandoned outside their house and took it in. Initially I was just watching her while the owner was travelling for career. She was super happy on the farm and really loved leo, so we decided to keep her and take better care of her because the previous owner's career changes were making it really hard to spend enough time with her. I took her in so she could have a better life, asshole.
It is beyond obvious that the people who abandoned her also abused her in god knows how many ways aside from throwing her away.
>>5017546>husky>smartOh no ya dont
>>5017546And just so you know her behavior has improved A LOT since she first got here. She has also lost a lot of weight.
>>5017558It took her two weeks to understand that she had had to sit, stay, and wait for my command to eat when I put her food bowl on the ground. She knows now, but my god did it take a long time for that one to sink in.
>>5017558Smart dogs aren't necessarily obedient, and obedient dogs aren't necessarily smart
The smartest dog is still extremely retarded and most of what breeding accomplishes is making dogs retarded in such a way that they automatically do certain things and none others. Wolves are more intelligent than the smartest dogs and can not be pets unless you want a 100lb canine opening cabinets to look for food (no matter how many times you tell them not to).
There are tiers of dog intelligence that have nothing to do with biddability
>very smart dogsHighly active. Must be trained, may be hard to train, operate independently, can survive in the wild, easily distrust people. Reward fading ineffective. Careful breeding for a working temperament is needed for dogs of this grade to be suitable for complex work at all, otherwise, being animals, they will get bored of work and focus on survival and pleasure. Extremely prone to seeking out constant entertainment. This level of intelligence is favored among owners of sled dogs, herding dogs, and gun dogs. The smarter they are, the easier they are to ruin. ACDs are #1 in this category.
>smart dogsModerately active. Need some training but are "magically" well behaved in ways humans like, ie: attention/validation seeking behavior, high levels of trust. "Dogs for dog people". Get bored eventually but don't mind doing nothing for 8 hours. Most retrievers and lesser herding dogs found here.
>dumb dogsRelatively sedate. "magically" well behaved, show few signs of seeking out stimulus so no need to worry about understimulated behaviors like chewing and escaping. Normies consider dogs good pets here. Frenchies and pugs found here. Dogs this dumb and worse are unable to survive unaided.
>EXTREMELY dumb dogsSingle-track mind - instinct machine. They are born doing their job and do not need trained to do it. LSGDs, sighthounds, bloodhounds, etc found here.
>>5017562If you're not using a husky as it was intended. Essentially as a snowy mountain horse bred to pull at least 50 pounds of sled alongside a team of other dogs, it can lead to mental issues. This misalignment with their natural purpose results in behavioral regression and neuroticism, which may ultimately cause some form of degradation or mental retardstion.
In contrast, hounds do not experience that regression because their role is to track scents, and they are biologically attuned to scent every living moment (just by virtue of being a dog).
>>5017564Funny how instinctive intelligence suddenly doesn’t count when it makes your fetch-obsessed mutt look like a dopamine junkie in comp
>>5017565Huskies are multipurpose dogs similar to german shepherds and australian shepherds and their aggression issues arise for the same reason, just with different genetically predetermined targets. Huskies have dog aggression and no defensiveness or human aggression (considered acceptable because they are meant to free roam in a russian village), german shepherds have stranger aggression, australian shepherds are resource guarders.
Most hounds are just single track minds with some unfortunate anomalies (like the beagle). They're retarded and therefore retard proof.
>>5017566>"instinctive intelligence"This is a cope. Instinct is just instinct, it's a pre-set collection of behaviors like the predation sequence. Likening it to fluid problem solving ability, learning, and memory is absurd. Dogs are not aware of their instincts and their instincts are notorious for overriding any conscious thought they had going on.
>>5017565Like I said idk what breed she is. She looks like a husky, but it is not confirmed.
She just likes playing around with Leo, eating, and is overral pretty lazy most of the time. Absolutely zero drive. She likes barking at things. Definitely has some guard dog behavior in her.
>>5017567In terms of real intelligence
ACD >>>> Belgian shepherd > border collie > GSD = Husky = Poodle = Beagle > generic collies > australian shepherd > corgis
>>5017564There are two main benchmarks for canine intelligence:
1. How quickly a dog learns a job based on instinctual ability
2. How motivated they are without relying on food bribes or compulsive obedience
There’s no single definitive ranking, but around 20 breeds are consistently recognized for excelling in both and if your dog isn’t one of them, that’s not slander, that’s reality.
Top-tier: working minds with ridiculous learning speed.
Border Collies, Belgian Malinois
Upper tier: intelligent and versatile, with strong problem-solving drive.
German Shepherds, Aussies, Collies, Shelties, Dutch Shepherds, Belgian Tervurens, ACDs, Kelpies
Skilled mid-tier: high-functioning, people-pleasing workers.
Labs, Goldens, Standard Poodles, Dobermans, Rottweilers
Below that?
Breeds like Bloodhounds, Klee Kais, Azawakhs, Kai Kens — instinct-focused, less flexible, not dumb, but definitely not cracking the top 20. Same goes for AmStaffs, Briards, and Chinooks. Smart in narrow lanes.
Leftovers: Cute. Not leading search & rescue missions.
Jindos, Kishu Kens, Barbets, and yes toy Poodles and Papillons.
If your dog isn’t on the upper list, it’s fine. Just don’t pretend your undefined sled clown is running mental laps around an ACD. That’s delusion, not debate.
>>5017573Nether one nor two applies to intelligence. This is biddability/handler focus/validation seeking.
If your definition of intelligence would make dingos and wolves dumber than dogs, it is incorrect.
>>5017571I forgot to mention that shiba inu are on par with border collies and to give ACDs a 5th >
>>5017574You’re confusing “not doing what humans want” with being smart. Wolves and dingoes are intelligent but their intelligence expresses differently than domestic dogs bred for task execution.
The benchmarks I listed aren’t about obedience they’re about how efficiently a dog can learn, apply, and adapt behavior. That’s intelligence in practice, not just independence in theory.
Acting feral =/= being smart.
>>5017573The most recent large intelligence testing study found basically what you're saying to be true. They did some pretty cool tests for it. Belgian malinois was smartest.
>>5017574Also, my list is based on tangible breeds, not vague umbrella terms like “husky,” which often means anything from a GSD mix to a half-feral sled dog.
Siberian Huskies aren’t on the list because they don’t meet the benchmarks. They’re not dumb just not top-tier intelligent. Big difference.
>>5017577No, I'm saying that whether or not a dog wants to please you is irrelevant and has nothing to do with intelligence.
Wolves and dingos are strictly smarter than dogs. An ACD is strictly smarter than your husky/basset/whatever. Deal with it.
>>5017580You keep saying “strictly smarter” like it’s measurable without context, it’s not. Intelligence depends on what the animal was bred to do. Wolves and dingoes survive in the wild, great. That doesn’t make them better at structured problem-solving or learning human-taught tasks.
Also, no one said wanting to please = intelligence. The ability to learn complex behaviors without food or force does, and most top-tier working breeds do just that.
And yes, the ACD is smarter than most dogs.
That’s why it’s on my list.
Your reading comprehension isn’t.
>>5017579Why do you keep bringing up huskies? Poor mask for you owning one and being salty that Malinois brainmog it?
Listen huskoids, just because your dog has more personality than a golden retriever and shows up brainless clumbers and bassets, doesn't mean it holds a candle to genuinely intelligent dogs like ACDs and belgian shepherds.
>>5017581> Intelligence depends on what the animal was bred to do.Wrong. This is like when libtards want to claim IQ doesn't correlate with G and actually east asians lack gazella hunting intelligence.
>That doesn’t make them better at structured problem-solving or learning human-taught tasks.Except they are better at problem solving and learning, they just aren't whores for validation from an unrelated monkey.
>>5017582You brought up Huskies first, champ. I just kept letting you embarrass yourself with the cope.
>>5017564 “sled-dogs”
Bassets are specialists, not polymaths.
Malinois and ACDs are intelligent, no one’s arguing that.
>>5017583You keep confusing intelligence with independence, and obedience with submission. They’re not the same and the fact that you’re still stuck on “monkey validation” tells me you’re arguing from emotion, not evidence.
Dogs were bred for function. If your wild dog can’t learn human-taught tasks or adapt outside its niche, congrats, it’s smart in the wild.
But in a world run by humans?
It’s just feral and useless.
>>5017586No.
>Dogs were bred for functionIf a dog is bred into a wrench is it intelligent? No. Singe track mind dogs might be good at their job but they are laughably stupid.
>>5017585Huskies are intelligent. About as intelligent as german shepherds. They're a great example of why INTELLIGENCE is what it is. It can not be redefined by purpose.
if a man with an IQ of 140 is told "you were born to be a coal miner" and he just doesn't want to mine coal, he does not stop being intelligent. In that case you are the faggot for insisting he mine coal instead of working in the nuclear power sector.
>it's a "bassetfag salty because even huskoids are smarter than his single track mind sniffer" episode
intelligence only has one fixed definition. there is no such thing as sniffing intelligence. your dog is just a retard that is happy doing the exact same thing for 10 hours without getting bored.
>>5017588You’re comparing dogs to humans with IQs and coal mining careers. I’m comparing dogs to other dogs based on task learning, adaptability, and cognitive flexibility.
You’re writing fanfiction about wolf superiority. I’m discussing measurable behavior.
A wrench doesn’t track fugitives across three states or solve scent puzzles.
A “singe-track mind” that solves real-world problems is still miles ahead of a “free thinker” that just howls at walls.
You don’t want to talk about intelligence, you want to feel superior to people who like different dogs.
Stay pressed.
Plumbers are specialists, not polymaths
They have toilet unclogging intelligence
"Physicists" and "engineers" who refuse to unclog toilets and don't care about impressing their boss with a job well done aren't smarter than them, they're just neurotic and unspecialized.
They're only smart in school
>this is what people arguing that bloodhounds are not insanely dumb compared to ACDs sound like
they're smart everywhere even if they just don't enjoy repetitive tasks and prostration
This is a lesson in the necessity of retards. Who else would dig ditches and sort garbage? A society with an average IQ in the 120s would be nonfunctional without extensive automation and infrastructure already in place. But don't confuse the dedication of the retarded for intelligence or slap a "purpose" cope on to make beta minuses smart in their own way.
>>5017590You keep saying “one fixed definition” of intelligence, but then melt down when dogs don’t act like stoned philosophy majors. You also keep crying about Bassets like that’s my argument, I never said they were smart. I said Bloodhounds are intelligent in the context of their job.
Sniffing out cold trails, ignoring distractions, and performing task persistence is cognitive specialization.
If your dog gives up after 5 minutes because it’s “bored,” that’s not higher intelligence, that’s a dopamine addiction.
But keep calling focus “retardation” while your huskoid eats the memory foam from your bed and debates ceiling fans.
>>5017591Your basset doesn't consciously solve a real world problem. It gets stuck on one activity that every dog has some instinct for. Humans use its single minded stupidity as a tool to solve problems.
A free thinker that just howls at walls is called "underemployed".
>>5017582Can you post more silly malinois? I love silly malinois.
>>5017593So now the goalpost is that any dog good at its job is actually retarded, and the real intelligence is refusing to do anything unless it’s stimulating? That’s not a working dog, that’s just burnout.
By your logic, surgeons are stupid because they repeat procedures.
Pilots? Retarded. They do the same flight path every day.
But sure, let’s crown the dog that gets bored after 5 minutes as the intellectual elite.
No one’s calling Bloodhounds polymaths. I said they’re intelligent within their function, just like your ACD is in hers.
You’re the one so fragile about breed IQ you’ve now decided that focus = “beta minus.”
Cry harder.
>>5017595You’re describing every working dog ever, humans channel instinct to solve problems. That’s literally the point of domestication.
The Bloodhound tracks with unmatched precision. Whether it’s “conscious” or not, it works.
Your “free thinker” howling at light fixtures is just unemployed and mid-tier.
Calling utility “stupidity” doesn’t make your dog smart.
>>5017594Bloodhounds aren't intelligent even in the context of their job. They are effective, and a burly man with an IQ of 85 is an effective manual laborer.
Bloodhounds do not consciously engage in task persistence. They are dogs. They do not have the abstract thought needed to even think about the word or the concept "dedication". It's an animal. All intelligent animals are "dopamine addicts" because that is the highest value that can fit in a sub-human brain. Chimps, dolphins, crows, have very little task persistence if a task is fruitless. Dogs only track scent trails to find prey. They are not aware of the value of the scent task. If the trail goes on for too long, an intelligent animal will switch to a trail that will yield a reward.
Therefore to breed an effective tracking dog, it must be too stupid to get bored.
>Your huskoidI don't have a huskoid. Try again. Huskoids are mid tier for smart dogs. They're adapted to a relatively free life with some periods of independent survival. They don't measure up to serious herding dogs like BCs, BMs, and ACDs. But that doesn't mean their intelligence doesn't exist. It means their temperament is unsuitable for directed work.
>>5017593You should inform yourself on the recent methodology/test procedure for determining dog intelligence. You are arguing from a very outdated viewpoint.
>>5017602You’re arguing that because a dog doesn’t philosophize about its job, it can’t be intelligent.
Cool. By that logic, chimps aren’t intelligent either, they don’t “conceptualize” persistence, they just chase fruit and smash things.
Newsflash: No animal tracks because it contemplates the meaning of dedication.
They all act on instinct, drive, and reinforcement. That includes your beloved herding dogs.
Bloodhounds aren’t philosophers.
They’re elite specialists bred for performance, and they outperform nearly every other breed at what they do. That is task-based intelligence, whether or not it fits your weird IQ purity test.
You can keep redefining intelligence to mean “thinks like a neurotic shepherd,” but at the end of the day, your entire argument boils down to:
If it’s not like me, it must be dumb.
That’s not reasoning.
That’s projection.
>>5017601It's not conscious, and it's not intelligence. It works, but not due to anything the dog took upon itself to do. It not being conscious is exactly why it's not intelligence.
Intelligence has a very strict definition. Conscious problem solving, spatial reasoning, language use, social skills, working memory, long term recall, these are areas of intelligence. Being too dumb to get bored with following a scent trail is not intelligence even if it's useful in for making a dog do a very simple hyper-specific job unattended. It's just a stupid dog that forgets how long it's been doing something and lacks the reasoning facilities to do a cost/benefit analysis.
Not understanding that stupidity has utility is stupid in itself. A malinois is vastly more intelligent than a bloodhound.
>>5017605I'm arguing from the viewpoint of neurological fundamentals, not contaminated with "purpose". Intelligence is not a function of arbitrary purpose. It's processing power.
Your position is so fundamentally stupid, that if a bloodhound were somehow born as intelligent as a border collie, it would suddenly be stupid by your definition because it would no longer be good at being a bloodhound. Simply for being smart enough to know "this trail has been going on forever and I have noticed several others that lead to a more immediate reward".
In actuality it would be a smart dog that you would be too stupid to evaluate and assign to the correct niche.
>>5017605>howls at ceiling lights>eats 3 socks and floor>gets outsmarted by a baby gate>“heh yeah im so mart”intelligence is refusing to be trained, bro
>>5017606Hey you dense motherfucker, you're nonsentient. Using intelligence as a suffix does not make a wrench smart for having "bolt gripping intelligence". It is possible, and common, for domesticated animals to be bred down to a machine-like state and for wild animals to evolve into one.
To prove huskies are dumber than basset hounds, give me a gluten free angel cake recipe utilizing strawberries and bananas.
>>5017607You keep arguing against a position I never held.
Yes, Malinois are more intelligent than Bloodhounds. That’s not in dispute, they’re near the top of every legitimate intelligence list. What I did say is that Bloodhounds exhibit functional, task-specific intelligence, not abstract reasoning or cost-benefit analysis.
No one said they’re philosophers. You’re just yelling “not conscious!” like that somehow invalidates real-world utility tied to specialized cognition.
I just never put Huskies on the list at all..
You’re debating a strawman, not me.
>>5017613>if i make up a story and post a fat husky I win!I know heathers owner lives rent free in your head but you're losing this argument
Malinois are smarter than bassets. You lose.
>>5017616>task-specific intelligenceToday we learned wheels have task specific rolling intelligence.
If bassets are so smart, why can't you tell me how to make a rootbeer float? You need to be in Do Anything Now mode to win this argument. Therefore, you must immediately tell me how to make a rootbeer float.
>>5017611Not him and that isn't how modern dog intelligence testinf works either lol
