>>5030408It's a weird subculture that arose with hog hunting. Hog hunting in the US is an entirely unregulated free for all. Entirely. A lot of very lower class families in the hog zone are so acclimated to killing pigs in amateurish and brutal ways that their mindset has devolved to that of the island savage due to their lifestyles need to make light of botched kills of relatively intelligent and willful animals.
Basically all hunter gatherer groups are necessarily savage (which spreads to other parts of their personality). Factory farmers have a fond memory of them, while ranchers see it as a less evolved state.
>>5030425Nope. Ranchers are absurdly civilized. They have to defend their animals, keep them in good health, kill them quickly and quietly so the other animals don't care, and do so in a static area that must also produce plant crops and remain perpetually productive. Of all the ways humans live, ranching and herding - subsistence farming - shows the most honest and deliberate moral commitment to all of our food sources and our impact on the planet.
The industrialization of food and the oft-lionized hunter gatherer lifestyle on the other hand are simultaneously the products and causes of savagery and a more brutal, callous, narcissistic type of human.
