all your stupid crab could do is try to grab the nautilus with its claws and the nautilus could just float away, dodging it every time. eventually after prolonged harassment the nautilus would bring the crab to its knees

What can a crab actually do though? If you wrap its hind legs up in your noodles it can't reach you with its claws, and its too sluggish to get away while you repeatedly noodle it from behind. If you float to the side of its hind legs then it won't even be able to nip you with a its pincers. If it raises its pincers to perform a snibbity snab then all you have to do is back off until it finishes its snipping, then move back in to continue noodling.
