It was just another case of "scientists" studying something that you don't actually need to study to understand on a basic level.
An infant needs its mother's love. Everyone knows this instinctually. There's no need for tests or experiments.

You would go insane too if you lived with a BPD woman. But now imagine instead of a woman there is 50 monkeys instead who are all psychotic and screaming 24/7.

>>5033056
>>5033019
There was a justifiable reason and discovery from it that was worth while. The fact that the wire surrogate group was MORE bonded to their "mother" than the non-wire surrogate is alarmingly interesting. You can correlate it to human psychological behavior in the nature of abuse victims and it shows it is not an exclusively human trait but potentially an evolutionary one.

Yeah, seeing a baby monkey scream as its eye gets hollowed out by a power drill was hilarious. Those threads can stay dead. After all why did half of those monkeys need to be dressed in infant attire?

I think it was always going to go to gore to one up, but it was funny when it was just Elsa/Spiderman levels of sus, with Cambodian engrish about it, and all from videos of how macaques themselves are awful to each other. Stealing babies, kiling each other, frankly being put down is nothing to that.

But it didn't end with putting down and filming the freakout. The algorithm needed more, always. Oh well, nothing lasts forever.

Iirc at the time there was a popular view that it's bad to "coddle" babies because you spoil them and it's best to ignore their cries. Resulting in a generation of broken people.

This is what we get when science obsessed "gentlemen" want to redefine child rearing.

I remember seeing a video of a man going deep on why monkeys awaken more sadistic pleasure on people. He said most of those people hated human babies and uncanny valley because monkeys resemble humans too much, they act the same and have tantrums like real babies, this trigger their disgust. God I would love all those nigger chinks to upload videos about baby monkeys.

By the way, that dude was a depressed piece of suit that never got over his first wife divorced him and his second wife died, so he he tried to se how much trauma you can heal, how to create a trauma? Of course put the monkey inside a tiny metal box with little light and call it "the well of despair". Dude was a Danganronpa villain.

So, if it was exclusively human, it wouldn't be an evolutionary trait? What are you trying to say? What does it matter either way?

Science types are all thoroughly neurotic. (You) are thoroughly neurotic. Look at how you have to reply to everything; give you're corrosive little opinion on everything; share every noxious little thought you have.

>Everyone knows this instinctually. There's no need for tests or experiments.
Yet the fact that love and affection are essential for children to thrive only became known in the 20th century, until then kids were only given the bare minimum of care to survive and minimal affection. Hell, giving affection used to be actively discouraged and due to high mortality rates parents used to keep distant to prevent getting attached until children survived past early childhood

No it's not. Being more bonded to something that harms you is not inuitive and nor do I admit to as much. I stated it is observeble in humans, not that it makes sense as to why that is the case. In fact I emphasize it being not exclusive to humans makes it seem like their must be another mechanism to makes this cross-species which is interesting in of itself due to the context of it being counter intuitive.
>So, if it was exclusively human, it wouldn't be an evolutionary trait? What are you trying to say? What does it matter either way?
The point I was trying to make is that these weird complex behaviors are attributed to humans and not typically other mammals. We understand that due to the nature of human sapience our behavior can be irrational, but this study shows this is not exclusively idiocentric to homo sapiens. This indicates a wider evolutionary mechanism at work.
>Science types are all thoroughly neurotic. (You) are thoroughly neurotic. Look at how you have to reply to everything; give you're corrosive little opinion on everything; share every noxious little thought you have.
Lol
Just because I can understand the motivation or significance of the test does not make me a "science type". I am the polar opposite and see it as philosophical tool from aristotle's school which people mistakingly believe is an immutable universal truth to the universe. From from a non-aristotelian lense there is clear distinction between man and beast with "human nature" often being a justifying element, but illustrating that human idiosyncrasies may not actually be as human exclusive as we considered through the scientific method, it's interesting food for thought. I still believe that there is a distinction, but exercises like this help narrow where the line should be drawn.

To me the "Pit of Despair" was not the gratuitous of ALL primate experiments ever conducted, but also was highly informative that unprocessed grief/trauma validates the saying: Hurt people, hurt people. Harry Harlow the project creator, created it, after the loss of his wife that drove him into a deep depression that tainted the professionalism & frankly he should of took leave to not project his trauma to others, because it creates equally tainted data. He used the classic macaques to see how you can used environments to simulate/force violent depression, via sensory deprivation, neglect & lack of social connection to destroy the psyche. If I elaborate more, it'll simply ruin any sane person's day & risk boarding of obscenity territory. In fact Wikipedia (the most recent article) didn't have the heart to elaborate or even entertain the """substance""" of the experiment and it's roughly 2 pages long. I caution that if you decide to research this insanity, respect it as a true crime story, but also for the love of God, keep safe search on to not ruin your week & long-term health.

HOWEVER, there was light at the end of the tunnel as similar to ALL cases of cruelty that's legally recognized it also updated, how primates must be treated to actually get reliable data & actual practical medicine to make it as safe as eating baby-food through progress. I'm simply here to add another smoking-gun, but I also refuse to end a topic without hope as it'll lead to bitterness & complacency. If we don't learn from history we are doomed to repeat it, but it's also by simply knowing that's we KNOW about, we WILL have tools to change, so hope IS through knowing.

TL;DR:

> Be Harry Harlow

> Refuse leave
> Create project
> Commit sick-fuckery
