Which breed of cats, in your opinion/experience, is the most aggressive, and which, on the contrary, are more affectionate?
Anonymous No.5036393
Specific cat breeds arn't really aggression prone. The closest you will see to a correlation in hostile behavior are wildcat mixes, like European Lynx crosses or Bengals and Savannahs as they will not be entirely domesticated in their lineage. If we are not talking about wildcat crosses it becomes more difficult to define, but I think subarctic or tundra breeds like the Norwegian Forrest can be seen as more aggressive compared to traditional cats as they do not flag or vocalize like a normal moggy. So you might be too rough or spook them and only find out by the time they have bitten you and drawn blood while at the same time it seemed unpredictable.

Most affectionate is easier to place. Siamese and Exotic Shorthairs are both very affectionate but in different styles of behavior. Siamese are hyper vocal and constantly seek stimulation or interaction while Exotic Shorthairs are basically quiet and gentle velcro lap cats. Think of the loveble, hyper Golden Retriever vs the slow, lumbering but devoted Mastiff sort of deal.

I've heard ragdolls are the most affectionate. Most aggressive is probably the bengal or anything mixed with any wild cat.

Ragdolls are very gentle and floppy but not necessarily more affectionate

I've got a bengal and, maybe its just mine, but he's the furthest thing from aggressive. He's a cowardly lion.

Why aren't cats bred for underground fighting rings and massive gambling circuits

Because cats don't really fight beyond slapping

Yeah, so it's more sustainable than dogfights where the pittiws usually try to kill each other

I can't believe I am even entertaining this but realistically the meta would just be British Shorthairs anyway. They are the bulkiest of all the breeds on just muscle and bone structure alone

No clue what breeds my cats were (all were the free kind you find outside) 3 males, 2 orange 1 white. The white one was the most aggressive and brought back the most random rodents, birds, frogs, etc... one of the oranges was fluffy and huge and looked half main coon, very chill cat overall. The other orange was just regular cat, but was extremely sociable and affectionate walking up to random people and rubbing on em in the neighborhoods and letting random small children pick him up all the time

Breeds don't really matter.
Traditional wisdom is that black and ginger cats are the most aggressive/least fun to have as pets, and I have heard a few times before that calicos are supposed to be sketchy and distant.
In my personal experience, even those are mostly meaningless. My own kot is a calico and she is emotional dependency incarnated, I've lived with three ginger cats, all males, two were adorable and the last one was a cunt that literally would find ways to infiltrate your locked room to take a dump on your pillow rather than doing it in the same room as the other. That one didn't last long.
If you can, go for the female runt of the litter, it may have been pure luck but the last 2 I've got were such and they were very smart and were in love with me.
But honestly, cats are pretty easy, if you don't suffer a bad draw and get one that's profoundly retarded, you feed them, give them comfort, interact with them a bit, let them lay on your chest or be the little spoon and you automatically become their best friend.
Many cats don't deal well with multiple "owner" figures, just fyi, so they latch onto one person in the household and everyone else could die and they wouldn't notice... Don't know if that's relevant.

Breeds matter a lot, but actual bloodline breed, not "it looks kinda likea" breed.

Tuxedos are sweet little guys - mine was a rescue cat so he was always wary of new people, but once he was familiar with someone he was really affectionate.
