One lives in my bathroom. Whenever I shit I look directly into its eyes to assert dominance.

I love these little guys. I always see them in my backyard when I'm working outside and they'll stop and watch me when I get close. I also got this lil dude on my microphone a while back

They are of course.
Larger brains interpret all the visual information. Hunting is much more complicated than just waiting in your net for prey.
They recognize other jumping spiders. If a similar size, they avoid each other. If one is smaller, it may turn prey. If they're the same species and opposite sex, the male may try his luck and initiate a mating dance.
One time I saw a male killing a much smaller different species jumper. He then gave it to a female, which then allowed him to pass on his genes with her.
As often seen in nature, she was just eating while he was doing all the work.
Pretty impressive behavior for such small creatures.

The creepiest thing about insects for me is how unpredictable they move

Anything smaller than a thumb but visible is an insect. Ants, spiders, your 5'10 friend, all of them.

their vision is really good, and they're also very, very aware; if they see your finger, they actually realise it's just a part of a (much) bigger animal and look into your eyes. semi-related, bull ants also have really good vision, they can see you up to a metre away. I remember walking back to my desk at work one day and a bull ant chilling on a wall saw me, dropped off it and just kept looking right at me as i walked around it, definitely not something you expect from an insect.
there's even evidence that they even dream, studies have shown that they have leg and eye twitches during REM sleep much like how humans, dogs and cats do.

Erm... no they aren't
Insects are crustaceans tho
Refer to the latest phylogeny tree, not all arthropods are incests and crustaceans

Do spiders dream of enwebbed sheep?
Anonymous No.5046749 [Report]
I have such a soft spot for spiders, but an even softer spot for jumping spiders. They are far too charming, far too aware. I absolutely refuse to harm one. I always let them go to safety.

Was greeted by this when I got home from work last night. I think it's the same one that came home with me in the car the night prior.

Well, that is what you get for living in Australia?
I probably would not consider that one a friend.

It's just a huntsman. They unironically are friends because they eat flies and shit and they can't hurt you.

Well then. It's fine and I wish you a lot of spiders in your home.
That's not too bad guys, arachnophobia drastically declines with knowledge of spiders.
