There are probably many cats named Maru out there, but this was the official famous one with 898K subscribers
and 577,883,099 views on his channel. From the blog post it appears to also have been some sort of lung cancer, but he made it to his 18th birthday a few months ago. Old enough that his early videos were still posted to Youtube in 4:3.
