Over the last year I've lost 5 cats from old age. July was the last one, she was 19.
Now only our 16 year old long haired tabby is left, he is still pretty healthy though and should live a few more years. Just him and my senior dog who is 15.
But my last cat won't sleep by me, my other 2 cats that died in the last year slept by my side every single day, woke me up every single morning and now they're gone and it's just me and my dog in bed, I miss them so much and I still think about my cats every morning when I wake up and they're no longer sitting on the bed with me mewing to wake me up to feed them at 7am..

Their names were Socks and Shoes. Shoes just died in July. She died in my arms at home, she had stopped eating and I took her to the vet and before I could bring her back to euthanize her she decided to go on Sunday, it was traumatic though because she jumped on the floor and then started struggling to breathe and I carried her to my bed crying as I watched her stop breathing over the next 2 minutes and stop gasping for air. It was horrible but at least she died at home in my arms and not having to be brought to the vet.

i knew that it would happen. not fashionable to say these days but i enjoy to watch that cat once in a while. it relaxes me. end of an era, probably.
