Some OC, I went and saw a ton of elephant seals at Piedras Blancas in California
This was in September, so these are all juvenile/teenage elephant seals, the adults were out at sea

Took my little sister who's big into the seal fandom stuff up the coast to swim with some of her favorite seals for her 18th. It's like idol culture but for aspies, she has a fanpage for picrel she's very shy about.
10/10 experience, she cried tears of joy that day.

so somewhere along the way, one of these things had some weird defect in its nasal passage that let it blow part of its nasal passage out of its nose, and a particularly fecund female was attracted to it. The offspring were healthy other than their defective nasal passage, and eventually they all had it because that's what the females of this species go for. What a world.
