When you put them all together in 1 giant pen like that, the alpha male/matriarch sets the tone for all the others. This is a good alpha dog, just trying to keep the peace. I've seen it turn the other way, where the alpha deems 1 to be picked on. They had to be sent home and never allowed back. After they were sent home peace was restored to the kennel.
