>>936045660I've lost an exact count, but I've had over 40 dreams about being a cat since March of this year.
The first dream was a COVID dream. I have no excuses for the others except that I've continually thought about this character and have fashioned a loose story around him.
If you *want* to dream about something, it helps to think about it throughout the day. I can't really say more than that. I don't know how this works.

First line references dreams. Imma go ahead and post it.
Even some of the dreams in which I'm human can be pretty bonkers.
Last night, I had a dream that a nurse at the hospital that I work for was trapped behind a counter chucking explosives at the final boss of Zombies Ate My Neighbors. I wanted to help him, but I couldn't because my workload was backed up.
Like, yeah, I'm gonna let my coworker fight to the death against a giant floating head which spits tongues because I have multiple patients that I have to interview.
>>936053386SAVED
Thank you.
Come to think of it, as odd as that dream was, it still has an underscore of me putting work demands ahead of personal ethics.
I don't want to get into specifics. But, yeah, I think my dreams are calling me out on leaving people hanging in order to accomplish my assigned tasks.

>>936053657Hello, Awoo Anon.
Working later now that there's more daylight?
>>936053676Greetings Mer Author.
I am indeed rather late. Had some hanging out socializing with friends tonight, then some things to take care of when I got home that I had not done earlier today.
Hows the writing?
>>936053748Socializing is good.
Today became more about fixing existing problems than active writing. Tomorrow should flow more smoothly than today.
>>936053797I do a fair amount of it.
hi awoo guy, socializing is 4 chumps
pat pat
>>936053822Stop fixing. Get the bulk of the story written, then go back and make it god. Commit to writing it badly.
>>936053852Greetings Mer Pat Pat.
Real life is good too.
>>936053872I know the rules. The first draft is just getting something written. The second one is fleshing things out. The third draft is about fixing the mistakes.
However, this was something that needed my immediate attention. This was like a tree branch that was either going to be trimmed or come crashing through my kitchen window.
I could have picked a lesser scene to have worked on. But I honestly feel that this was more important than having something written for the sake of having another scene down in writing.
>>936054060Well, as long as you keep at it.
It's one of those lessons that you know, but you don't commit to. Mr. Miyagi, in his pidgin English, said it best in the first Karate Kid movie:
>"Walk on the road. Walk right side, safe. Walk left side, safe. Walk middle, sooner or later... get squished just like grape. Here, karate same thing. Either you karate do, yes, or karate do, no."
When it comes to writing, you need to commit to making progress or you need to put your idea on a shelf and not think about it until you are ready to make progress.
>>936054252Good movie. I liked the second one to. 3rd was mostly OK but not as good as first.

If you simply tinker with a story, you run into the illusion of progress. You make a change. You undo that change. The anxiety of influence is almost a certainty.
>I made progress today because I decided that the timid character should be cocky
>I made progress today because I decided that the nice guy should be more of a jerk
>I made progress today because I changed the protagonist's signature look
>I made progress today because I changed the protagonist's signature look
>I made the progress today because the formerly timid, now cocky, character is canonically 100% timid and not cocky. AND WE ARE STICKING WITH THIS.
>I made progress today because I gave this character with a generic name a meaningful name with a greater ring to it
The thing to be done now is to put a freeze on all changes to decisions that have been made. If a character is unnamed, or doesn't have a signature look, etc., I can fill in the gaps. But I risk fatigue at this point if I go back and change, say, "Jason" to "Elias." My energy needs to go toward proactive writing.
your arms are my castle
your heart is my sky
they wipe away tears that I cry
the good and the bad times

>>936054328I like the first two. I disliked the third movie because it felt like they were taking too many steps backward.

In the first Karate Kid movie, we know without the two ever fighting that Miyagi is better than Kreese. Yet, Kreese's protege has more experience and that makes Daniel the underdog. As a teacher, Miyagi is having to play catchup.
In the second movie, Miyagi outclasses Kreese in direct competition. A more experience Daniel has to take on the protege of Miyagi's equal. The stakes are raised in a natural progression of the story.
In the third movie, we're back to having Daniel fighting one of Kreese's proteges. By this point, Daniel has years of experience training under a greater teacher. He shouldn't fear anyone trained by Kreese.

tv is all fixed up but nothing i have has analog video output
>>936056768What had you planned to plug into it?
>>936056912Most CRT fanatics use them for games. While that's on my radar, it's a longer-term goal.
More immediate goal is movies, TV shows. Stuff that aired or came out before, say, 2004. But, 14" is tiny. Also, most big movies were shown on the big screen, so I assume they were produced with that fact in mind. If so, a 14" CRT would not be the ideal way to watch them.
That latter goal could be easily achieved with a displayport to composite video converter that I could hook up to any modern PC.
>>936057012Might be OK if you sit really close.
>>936056768>>936057012older amd cards have composite and component out. Have one in my XP machine
the mobo died though
looked great though although the decoding was pretty weak for more modern encoding releases.
Could probably find a good middle ground in like the vista win7 era where you could get a pretty good processor and still use an older card
>>936059713have no desktop pc atm. would be terribly overkill at this time to build one just to stuff an ancient card into it. may keep this option on the shelf for if and when I do get around to building one.
What is the most power efficient card that has composite output?
Though, would prefer to use a HDMI to composite converter for now. but, a good one that doesn't fuck up scaling. just wanna watch 90s anime the way they were broadcast.
>>936059762composite out is a little harder
the dumb solution I used to do was burn dvds to watch on my CRT
there's also raspberry pi and clones that can do composite although it's not great
vga to composite would be a good option if you have vga.
>>936059847I have another device on the roadmap that will have VGA output (MiSTer FPGA-based emulator). Isn't VGA normally RGBHV signalling? Can it be passively converted to composite?
Could consider burning DVDs too, but I don't wanna transcode and burn 700GB of anime onto DVD.
Best short-term solution is still HDMI to composite.
Well, what do you know. 17 years ago my family bought a PC with a GeForce 9300 GE in it. That PC has since been junked, but I kept the hard drive and graphics card.
Has a VGA port [https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-9300-ge.c1760]
>>936060024not passively I don't think
I'm usually trying to go from component or composite to HDMI so my general usecase is a little different.
There is also using a PS3, they have composite and can be made into decent video players, albeit with encoding and file type restrictions. I haven't looked into it lately though so idk how it's improved over the years
>>936060252Found a card that has composite video out: Radeon X300 SE. Specifically, an ASUS variant.
From 2004. Do these cards even work on modern OS?
>>936061233it has drivers up to vista
the card I was using is a Radeon X1950 PRO
from 2006
drivers also stop on catalyst 10.2 same as your card
>>936061393I don't suppose I could build a PC with all-modern parts except this card, and then load Vista 64-bit on it.
*sigh* this is a deeper rabbithole than I expected. All I wanted to do was watch Cardcaptor Sakura on my TV from my NAS.
At the very least, if I had a good VGA to composite converter, I wouldn't have to go as far back as 2004 hardware just to get native composite out. Might have to go 2014, but that's not as bad.
>>936061923I'm pretty sure people have put an older card in modern systems with another modern graphics card
I don't know the setup for that though
>>936062020The problem is that everything else in the system must be work with whatever OS the ancient card works with.
I could easily build a modern PC with a B650 mobo and an RX7900 running W11 but none of that matters if the ancient card doesn't have working drivers.
>>936062074I mean if you're not crazy worried about fidelity just try a cheap HDMI to Composite converter and see if you like it
a CRT with component would be better for image quality but you gotta work with what you got
