Yugioh, for example, has trap cards. Which you put down beforehand, and can choose to activate during the opponents turn in response to what they do. There are more things you can do, like Quick Play Spells and Handtraps, but Trap Cards are well known and relatively simple.
Hearthstone ONLY has secrets, which you can play preemptively, but them triggering is always a triggered thing, not something you can choose to do.

Yugioh is one of the biggest card games. It's absolutely super influential, and still a titan of the industry. With Pokémon and Magic, I'd say they're the big three.
Thing is, most newer card games tend to emulate Magic, not the other two. Not that none others have.
