As someone who does, as far as I can follow, a similar job, I am NOT IT. That's the best way to describe what I do, I think, I'm the adapter between actual experts, and regular people. I take the time wasting non-questions, and do the finicky shit like gluing shit together on a web page so it looks nice, but I do not manufacture any of the various black boxes that are sent to me, that I barely understand besides where to plug them in, that actually do shit.
The difference is either nobody told him what he was doing wasn't actually game developing, he just saw "video game" manifest around him, and thought what he was doing was central to that process, or he's just desperate for the kind of prestige that comes with it, and his mouth is writing checks his ass can't cash. Given the handful of interactions I've seen that are visible enough for him to enter my field of awareness, I'd say it leans the latter, he seems kinda like an insecure, cowardly person, who would have a hard time not punching up an unflattering resume to be a superhero. He doesn't seem as utterly clueless and ditzy as it would take to genuinely believe whatever secondary or cleanup tasks they had him doing just magically results in a video game.
