"Classical" music in the truest sense is part of the evolution of music. You can't have other forms of music if you didn't have classical music because other forms of music came from that kind of music.

Toccata and fugue in D minor is important because it was the first piece of secular music from Europe at the time. Bach wrote it to protest the king who wanted him to write a song about it.
