My girlfriend has BPD and it's genuinely fucked up. I had no idea you people were even close to this cartoonishly insane before I dated one of you. It's genetic but only manifest if you were repeatedly abandoned by your parents/friends, emotionally or otherwise.

I was originally diagnosed with bpd but it got upped to scitzoeffective disorder when I let it go untreated and the symptoms got so bad I was in and out of the psychiatric ward almost weekly.

It is 100% genetics. It can be passed on through birth, and exacerbated through the environment, but it's not something you catch, it's something you inherit.

And before you ask I'm white, and everyone on my dad's side of the family is German. I most certainly inherited it from him because growing up, he was extremely emotionally volatile.
