somebody could write a whole book detailing how ambitious this endeavor was and how spectacularly this failed. basically Disney wanted to create a cruise ship experience, but not on a real boat.
people spend 5k on regular Disney Cruises all the time. and those cruises offer a ton LESS than this thing
they set the price high to imply value, betting on supply/demand economics to sustain those prices. there is a limit to the capacity, after all.
ultimately this was killed by YouTube and internet video bloggers who documented the entire trip. people watched those videos and bailed for [reasons] ($$$! for THAT? or meh, this video was good enough I don't feel I need to go myself anymore)
-I never watched a video
-I managed to book one of the final days when they announced the implosion
-I'm glad I did it.
-it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime event. Disney will never do something so bold again.
-I feel sorry for people who did not get to do it. you don't know what you missed
-money is plain and ordinary, you can always get more of it. you will NEVER get to do Star Wars Hotel, ever again. you should have went
