I agree somewhat, but I am a 2nd amendment absolutist. The first thing my mind goes to is this being easy to abuse by anti-gunners. They will simply weaponize the definition of mental illness to mean any MAGA CHUD the first chance they get.
I can see them pulling some bullshit like "hate speech" on social media being used to take a person's guns and calling it a "warning sign". The "hate speech" will be some innocuous comment that is harmless but politically incorrect.
Red flag laws have already been abused many times. Angry ex wives have called in red flag warning on their ex and basically used it as a way to get them SWATTED.
