well, that's settled, now, time to make up and fuck. then again, on second thoughts...
seriously though as I say, I'm in Scotland, no.1 immigrant demographic are Poles.
and the Indian and Pakistani groups are really not like you'd expect. there's a Pakistani community in Stornoway (way up, islands, och-aye-the-noo teuchter-land) who are fluent in Gaelic. the Indian community in Edinburgh are incredibly involved in community aid - they do food banks for the homeless and stuff like that all the time.
there was a large influx of Syrians in the late 2010's with the civil war there - and then we had major flooding in the west coast. The syrians were going around door to door, making sandbags for pensioners. when asked why, the reply was "You welcomed us when we had nothing. now its our turn to give something back"
there's a glasgow phrase: "Everyone's fae somewhere" which has become common in recent years, because immigrants here are welcomed, and make a positive impact on society. Hell, any immigration which brings new food is an improvement on Scotland's culinary standards...
there's this myth of "muslim takeover" and all that, and yes, Cities in england (ie, Bradford, or to a degree Leicester, or some parts of london) have high populations. that's mostly because the immigrants tend to cluster together moving to near where people they already knew had moved. but even in the highest densities, its not a takeover, that's just fearmongering bullshit.
the biggest example of fearmongering bullshit is the most popular baby names in the UK, and "Mohammed" being number 1. and yes, 5000 boys are called that every year. but what it doesn't note is that the next-most popular Islamic name is down in the 30's - Mohammed is no.1, because almost every fucking muslim boy gets called Mohammed. the next 28 names outnumber them 20 to 1.
