i dunno what your personal situation is like, whether you live with him and how much you depend on him and whether you have any other direction/purpose in life, but you should be able to take breaks sometimes
i went through some similar shit with my grandma for almost 3 years, and you need to be able to compartmentalize this shit & be able to rest when you get home, you know?
you have to put on your own oxygen mask first, before you can effectively help anyone else or let them rely on you
