But doesnโ€™t bitcoin become worthless if, say, the power went out?

I saw a U.S. general talk about how china have hacked the U.S power supply and can knock it down for long periods of time. Wouldnโ€™t this harm the coins value?

Could be complete fear mongering slop. He is an army general after all. Could be looking to up the military budgets.

It's a good example of the problems that plague high-finance and jewish money laundering. They now have crypto. They used to use films. Bitcoin is weightless, unstealable money.

If you want to learn the value of Bitcoin go to your bank and try to take out 15k.

I needed to send 20k to something that was my own business, I had to line up behind 10+ darkies and junkies, there were rainbow flags and propaganda all over.
The teller was a fat sassy black woman who didn't want to be there and she put in the wrong codes. I had to explain why I was sending the money. They didn't send the money for a long time then they called me because my account was flagged. The fat black lady put in the wrong code and almost didn't make it. They took $60 in fees. It took like 3 days to send MY MONEY to where I wanted to send it.

Meanwhile I had 30k in Bitcoin transfer and I sent it to where I wanted to thousands of miles in 5 minutes NO QUESTIONS ASKED and a $1 fee.

Bitcoin is magical teleportation capital that is exponentially increasing in value and no one can steal it from you.

If you want to know the value of your Bitcoin, just go deal with 15k+ from a bank

The computer is physical. I could sell the parts if the power went out (assuming there is a market). The Bitcoin can only be transferred digitally. The chain has to confirm the transaction. Sure you could exchange a physical wallet or seed phrase physically. The transaction can't be confirmed. It kind of defeats the whole purpose of the technology. Why not just use gold and silver coins at that point? Or some other physical form of "value"?There are some real existential problems with ethereal currency. Oh wait, just like FED notes. Weird. I guess Bitcoin doesn't really solve anything.

Correct. If your wallet is ever traced to you it's all there. The problem with monero is that it's used for illicit transactions. Yes it anonymous (mostly) but you are congregating with less than ideal groups of people. This will bring additional scrutiny upon you even if you aren't doing anything wrong. Guilt by association so to speak.

Crypto is supposed to be a currency. Like the euro, pound, US dollar, swiss frank, gold, silver...

It is a damn good currency because it's inherently limited, physically hard to control for the government, and is in itself a payment method too. You can evade taxes with it, keep your money safer than in a bank and impossible to take from you, pay anyone any amount you want with a tiny commission...

So yes. It is actually the shit! It's not a pyramid scheme, it's for real!

But wait a moment... How are people making money off it? Did you ever think about that? Why is it giving people returns? People surely don't buy euros or US dollars for a return on their investment and expect to get rich. Even gold doesn't make money, it only hedges from inflation and, apart from that, the price randomly fluctuates. Why is that the case with bitcoin? What is it about it that makes money?

It's not the stock of a company that sells anything. It's not debt of any organization or person who will make money and pay interest in exchange for a loan. Hmm what is it? Can you think of something?

I'm pretty sure it's people buying it in order to make money, then selling it later to someone who wants to do the same thing, over and over again. So, buying it as an investment is a pyramid scheme and a fraud. Bitcoin per se is great.

Bitcoin is a shit currency. the actual transfer takes days. And as mining prices (which is how transactions get processed btw) goes up in cost, fewer transaction will be completed. Good luck going to a grocery store and waiting 36hrs to get you food....

And its price is going up so that the US can sell more treasuries (Its how tether works) and borrow more money (because the asset side of the USA spreadsheet gets several hundred billion dollars bigger)

alpha

BTC is six figures. It has seen buyin from every group possible. Who else has greater money bags than Blackrock/Vanguard/and the USA government? Right it may go up some, bbut its hockey stick days are over.

Silver on the other hand is vastly undervalued as above ground supplies have shrunk 60% and consumption continues to outpace production to the tune that by 2028 we will be out of aboveground silver. Thus sometime between now and then silver is going to jump up massively in order to bring consumption and production back into balance.

Much more alpha in silver.

no one says that about Bitcoin unless they're retarded. That transactions are traceable is a core feature of the blockchain. It's entirely possible to obfuscate identity from easy public view and that is a normal feature of BTC. If you wish to evade well-funded Government inspectors with incentive to track down your money well you're shit out of luck, not unlike keeping your money in a bank or anywhere else.

Numerous issues (legal, technical etc) had to be tested and settled before the promise of BTC could be verified well enough to apply it in the way that meets its potential. Realistically we only crossed that barrier in the last year or two, maybe even six months. you're right that it's not stopping yet, but that is because the price is going to continue to climb while everything is re-priced against it. that will dramatically increase the price, but I guess you're not interested in benefitting from that. eventually the price will be very stable. 2040 at the latest and I think much sooner.

The thing about bitcoin that i never get is that it has a negative carry cost. Not an individual satoshi, but the network itself. The network has to be maintained, and that has costs. This creates a permanent selling pressure, structural to the system. If you don't have people constantly coming into crypto, it will go down because miners HAVE to sell coins to pay their costs. If at any time in the future you have more people selling bitcoin than you have people buying bitcoin, those sellers will need to compete with the structural selling of miners. Thus far, as nearly every satoshi ever bought has just been hoarded, this has not been a problem but a boon - the structural selling by miners has provided "liquidity" for the newcomers. However, if you ever have a situation (lets say, an economic depression) in which people who have invested into bitcoin in the past need to dip into their "hodl bags" in order to uphold a better standard of living or whatever, we will finally find out if bitcoin is "the real deal". When you consider the amount of leverage in the bitcoin market, with players such as microstrategy straight up doing a "all in, leverage to the tits" strategy, you don't need too much of a downturn for this to get really ugly really fast.

I really don't know if it will withstand this test, but something tells me that "bitcoin goes up forever" isn't as much of a certainty as most people make it out to be.

If the power goes out you have two options. Try to stay where you are until it comes back or leave.
Your credit/debit cards won't work if the powers out. Your dollars will make you a target the moment you transact with them. Your silver will weigh you down when you try to leave. Maybe you can hide an ounce of gold in your ass, but let's be real, you don't even have gold. Meanwhile your bitcoin is with you until you're dead as long as you can remember 12 to 24 words. Your bitcoin can be turned into local currency if you make it somewhere with power. Your share will never be drowned out because there's only 21 million of them ever. It truly is better than gold.

To understand the importance of Bitcoin, understand the following:

1. Over 5,000 years ago, humans started keeping track of accounting, leading to a "Ledger" over time. Ledgers were kept on parchment or anything else that could be written on.

2. Bitcoin is the 1st, universal, digital, high-secure, ledger. However, it can be used for much more than accounting.

I would think its highly valuable. However, I own 0.0 Bitcoins to be transparent.

There's the problem. This is assuming the person with currency is willing to trade it for your digital coin, and I think in a worst case scenario where eletricity is unstable and only currency gets you things, only an idiot would trade. It's like saying, okay, you can survive for now and come out on top when shit finially gets sorted, if it ever does. Or, you can trade security now for a chance that when/if things do get back to normal you can be rich. The odds that you will survive to cash in your digital wealth is pretty low.
