>>22955651Thread's coming to a close so I'll ask, do prostitutes overcharge because it's above the value of their time, because they must make enough to live comfortably or also because of the laws surrounding prostitution?
Think about it for a moment.
There's a lot of women, selling sex is outlawed most places, but some places are more loosey goosey. Some women vet men over the internet before accepting them nowadays and that's reported on widely.
I mention this because in Scotland there's a nutter named Ash, who took over the Alba party when Alex Fishman died. She didn't name herself after a fish but she wants to criminalise the sale of sex. Prostitutes complained because they already find it hard to stay safe.
Does that cause them to raise their rates then? As they take on less clients? As it's less socially acceptable?
How about on the moral hygeine of it. Fucking a whore is dirty, being a whore is dirty, she's supposed to feel ashamed of the body count, hell this thread has a go at it but that's how it is, right? So, she may keep the body count low, raise the price, take the safe ones and try to live.
It's a tough one. If sex were completely decriminalised, sold legally then perhaps market rates would come down, but so too would that allow for sex workers to be safe on the job. They could fuck as many men in a day and take home a living wage.
I'm not here to stand up for any particular side, but I'm on the side of not criminalising the sale of sex. I understand the world is complex and people should have autonomy. Disabled people also exist, yeah.
There's a whole load of market factors that go into that price.
On escort sites 10, 15 years ago there were people who had bottom rates and didn't look that good either, that did match a less considered market rate. Almost as if it were a job on the side or they would trade by volume.
