The thing is that societies evolve, they can start using technology to do that instead. I know that it's subverted as shit but I'm more attuned to freedom. I actually moved away from society for that reason alone and still had to deal with harassment until I figured out what they're doing.
No matter if it's for good or bad, I don't think people should be playing God by controlling other's actions, I think that Free Will and the choice to make decisions in one's private life should be a testament to God, not the community.
