Hey /cgl/, I've got a bit of a condundrum.
I've been wanting to go to AX all year, but haven't been able to make plans since I've been poor as fuck and waiting for some money to come in. I thought I'd have it towards the start of may, but it just came in yesterday.
I've done some looking into flights, hotels, and tickets and such and I think I can make it work, it's just gonna be expensive since it's 2 weeks away, but fortunately that money that came in was a pretty big windfall so I'm not bothered by price. However, my big concern is cosplay.
I really want to cosplay to AX but all I have is a Keiji Shinogi cosplay from a few years ago with an unstyled wig. I would like to cosplay something different, but between the time crunch and my lack of sewing or propmaking skills, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to buy premade.

Do I have the time do buy a premade, decent quality cosplay to wear to AX? Money is not a big issue for me, but I'm not sure where to look. I'm familiar with dokidoki cosplay but their stock is pretty barren for male outfits except like, 2xl sizes, and that seems to be the norm for other sites too.
Any advice is appreciated!

I could be wrong, but I can't see many LA Persians protesting this, most of the ones I knew were all for bombing the fuck out of the current regime (often with ideas that they could go take their country back afterwards), especially considering a significant percentage of LA's Persian population are Jews and many of the rest were members of other religious groups that have been suppressed since the revolution or were just secular and very westernized.

Whatever protests happen will probably be the usual mix of leftists and muslims/arabs from other countries but even that might be pretty toned down, political memories can be short but the regime's brutal suppression of the women's movement there was only a couple of years ago and very highly publicized on the platforms like TikTok where a lot of those people get their opinions.

In a ideal world they would be, but there isnt enough space at any con center in the world to have separate lines for every panel for each room.
At least they have been planning things somewhat better, where multiple big panels over lap making people choose.

last year the security did a ok job of stopping cutting, but It would be nice if people found cutting in line were immediately removed of their badges and forced to leave.

She's also a westaboo who really wants to move to the US and I've suspected she might see me as a ticket. All that said I was in a lot better shape last time she saw me IRL and it's all moot because even if I had a couple of grand to blow on an AX trip it's too late to get a room at this point.

That seems highly unlikely as AX needs to stay on the pacific coast to keep their Japanese roots. Not to mention its already a bitch and a half for famous Japanese manga creator and voice actors to fly 11.5 hours across the pacific to LA but LA has enough attractions and hollywood star power to get these famous Japanese to come here. All Florida has is Disneyworld, oranges and mosquitos. Now if AX was moved to New York that could be possible.

Honestly, as somebody who's been going to AX since 2001, Vegas sounds pretty good to me. It's driving distance or a cheap flight from LA, it's a decently popular destination for Japanese people and has nonstop flights that aren't much longer, it's got a con center that's more than big enough, it's got absolute fucktons of hotel capacity and you can get something that's cheap, nice, and easy to get to the con center from, way more food options, a much better culture for the nightlife side of AX, and it's way less sketchy than DTLA is these days. I really don't see many downsides.

Only one, the average 115 degree weather in July. I've had the same argument as to why San Diego comic con should move to Vegas and its always about the fucking weather as their rebuttal.

Yeah, the transit options basically make it a non-issue. I guess the only real issue is cosplay photo locations but the LACC isn't very good for that either. Not like LA's climate in July is super mild either, this year looks like a lucky one (around 80) but I've been at plenty of AXs where it was 100+ and even the closest hotels are a 10+ minute walk away there.
Anonymous No.10955733 >>10955735

>I guess the only real issue is cosplay photo locations
It'll hurt "Professional" photographers because most places want licenses, but fans would go crazy having literally infinite locations for casino shots and gambling/unlucky-themed characters could spend an entire weekend just at the various locations on the strip. As long as everything is done indoors, you've got a /lot/ of options, especially when compared to DTLA where the only surrounding structures are numerous hotels, numerous office buildings, one of the filthiest city downtowns in a 1st world country, and a long stretch away Little Tokyo. I'd honestly love the move for many reasons, most especially to escape the rapidly rising price of hotels in Los Angeles(said hotels which never undergo any form of renovation and only the minimum upkeep).
Anonymous No.10955735 >>10955740

Yeah, the hotels are the top thing for me as well. This is the first AX I'm missing in 20+ years but I was only at the last decade or so because I lived 20-30 mins away, now I'm flying distance and I just can't justify what a room costs, nor am I in a place in my life where I can handle sleeping on a floor and sharing a bathroom with 5 other guys. It sucks because all my friends are gonna be there, including ones from out of the country etc., and while I really like the place I live now I also don't really have any friends here yet or anything so I'm gonna be sitting alone on my ass at my computer looking at everybody's posts about the con, and if it were in Vegas instead where rooms are cheap and plentiful I could be there.

The one item I didn't expect to get was the metal slab on the poster there. That's a riot dev only launch day gift for their card game and are apparently rare even by riot dev standards. Honestly huge win there on its own.

Also met some girls, got their info, gave one some unreleased enamel pins I didn't want because she seemed more into them than I would ever be so that made her day

You got it bro, always trying to make people feel appreciated for being themselves. Just a shame it was only you. I also hope you enjoyed my cosplay of pic related. I probably wont do it again though it was way too hot and sweaty

All jokes aside, when I left the con I got stuck in traffic because of the way they directed the flow being the wrong way, and got to drive by a freeway accident that somehow sent a car over the rail onto the street below, burst into flames and charred while still somehow not blocking any lanes while on my way to get my roommate's stuff from his hotel. I then saw a group of black dudes at the same intersection trying to wash people's windshields and causing a greater traffic jam. LA is fuckin great

stop letting these normalfags in and let it go off the walls. the fact a black guy couldnt even say the n word in front of an 18+ audience is really telling

i dont remember what year it was or what the panel was about but it was some date the audience thing and i had to compete with 2 others, one not super into it but having fun, the other trying to put on the most posh persona possible with long drawn out replies and got boo'd a ton, and in the end i won. the woman picking the contestants asked why i should be picked and i intended to say "i know the secret to a man's heart" but i accidentally said "i know men better than you do" and as pissed as she was she let me be on stage for it. i won with "i got a copy of topgun on bluray and im ordering hot wings tonight, you get to pick the flavor and dip bro" and the room cheered and i bridal carried the guy down the aisle. it was fun as fuck and i wish i could have that much fun again. no homo

It wasn't just cunny, which I begrudgingly have to admit would be normal at a large normalfag-fest like this one, but all /minors/. That includes all the highschool and middle school characters that make up most anime. The worst part is that these fuckheads advertise themselves as "gooners" or whatever the word for pervert is now, but get all anal saying that "THE DRAWINGS MUST LOOK LIKE ADULTS >:((((". Fake fans, I tell you what.

i suppose its an improv talent to do so and if you can do it then you know more power to you, but realistically in comedy you should be able to take a joke, so even if its to criticize the quality of the panel it should be allowed
the best improv work you can probably do is to make fun of yourself too.
realistically the fact theres an anime expo feedback panel could be a useful avenue to get this dealt with, but by then who cares, they'll be back next year and unless enough people complained it wont mean much or change

one thing these dickheads need to get right is the lines, just make them fucking wider holy shit we have more than enough real estate on the venue to deal with this, and then whatever the fuck line mess happened at LA Live needs to be handled too

I went to both gachimuchi panels and the first one was the best. The second time around I really got the feeling that Danny was more-or-less forced into this role as internet microcelebrity and that a group of retarded YTPMVers are trying to make him the next Aniki. It's probably fun for him but the awkwardness hasn't fully gone away because the guy was trying to live a normal life for a long time, unlike Van who was and is still into gay shit and works well with the attention.

Agreed although they really did some cool spots. I don't quite recall everything but I particularly enjoyed the heavyset girl and I thought a few tagteam matches. The yoyo was surprisingly over with me. I could have done without this kpop performance in the middle. The girls were cute too which was nice.

If I had any real feedback
1) they need a commentator even if it's just some guy screaming in Japanese
2) lower the music probably
3) need alcohol
Overall 10/10 experience though would definitely recommend they bring it back.

I don't think all the weebs knew how to behave during this kinda stuff. Lots of people were patiently watching while I'm over here as a wrestling fan screaming and hollering kek. Good time.

I did. The woman in the back took a photo of my suiseiseki costume but, rightfully so, didn't upload it to their Twitter after offering it.
