>>10946737Rays bro? Absolutely turbo based. As a fellow sports fan it kills me that sensitive faggot cosplayers are like “waaaaah sports bad sports people meeeean like Chad in high school” when it’s like I just sometimes want to watch some ball games and other times I want to dress up like fictional characters and get absolutely drunk out of my mind. Rays are gonna make the dance this year and finally win a playoff series I can feel it.
As far as hotels go since the Rays are playing at Steinjew field this year I’d say somewhere on the Tampa side would be better than St Pete, Four Points by the airport is nice and a mix between the places you want, also not the Hilton downtown but the one by International Mall is another good one. If you’re an extreme poorfag though there is a Days-Inn between Tampa and Lakeland that I see a lot too.
Go Rays, Bucs and Bolts.

St.Pete has nothing going for it con wise despite having a few potential locations way better than the fucking Coliseum. The Hilton where they held Shadocons last year is one potential spot and another is the Hilton in the northern part of St Pete at Carillon Park (google it, it’s really nice and walking distance from a topgolf). All the city really needs is a con organizer that has more brain activity than Terry Schaivo to make the city into a viable con spot.
Is Florida worth visiting for any con?
>>10948655There are a bunch of cons in FL so that's a hard question to tackle.
One thing about FL cons that I've noticed compared to other states is that the age group of con goers is younger than other states I've been to, and while I haven't been to that many states, it's always something notable I take away after a con.
Given how many cons there are you can find one that floats your boat, so you have to be more specific. Winter cons in FL are the way to go given the mild temperature but summers are rough, I hope you don't have anything requiring makeup.

such a shitshow last year and hope they learned their lesson never to go to miami beach for anything at all ever again
id prefer if it was in january tho theres something special about it when you go there after holmat
id figured id see the SAME FIVE SONGS (vendors cosplays merch ect) everywhere but at this point id just forget it
so many mikus for some reason tho
awesome raves for the most part
i went to the sonic rave and they barely played any sonic related stuff and then switched to generic rave music
id say every panel is too samey there were too many trivia and jeopardy panels
that i dare you to come to this panel was kinda stupid because it was just "im telling you to do [thing]" and for whatever reason they just kept thinkin what to do next
like even gave a dude double points for arm wrestling and stuff so fuck the audience i guess lol

but zero drama no dumb things happened

Alright, I just settled back down after AFO.
My observations are that it was overall a great event. I really enjoyed the panels. The con felt high energy. I think that the rave should have been held in the main events hall instead of the hotel's bar and I didn't like how the karaoke only allowed a limited song selection. Those are the only two negative comments that I have.

>TCCim assuming thats tampa bay comic con? every year i keep hearing its a shitshow from my buddies

gamists I went to a con for the first time in like 7 years and megacon made me just as depressed as it did almost a decade ago. Is it megacon or am i just a fag? I felt like there was barely anything to do, the amount of slop repeat stall vendors was off the charts, and even small side rooms like the games areas or manga areas felt like theyd been shrunk into a quarter of what I remember when I last went. Not to mention, the after parties blew ass. My friend and I were more than ready to leave Saturday and I felt kinda defeated on the drive back after convincing them itd be a good time
>>10955170Megacon sucks. I went a few years ago and have been dedicated to spreading negative propaganda about it ever since on account of hating it so much.
>>10955200The best Megacon review I've ever heard makes it sound like a solid 2/5
>>10955200just what exactly is it about it in comparison to other cons? Id only ever been to Mega and Super when I was younger, and outside of the first year I went to Mega I feel like ive been underwhelmed. Going back after almost a decade and having it immediately make me think, "i was right to stop going back then," made me so depressed, especially since i thought being older and more normal wouldve remedied it a bit. It honestly stripped my motivation to plan for other cons this year. Will last minute metrocon plans make me see the light?

>>10955170Could be some mild faggotry, could also be that Mega might not be a good first con back, especially if you’re more into weebshit exclusively. You might not be a complete faggot like
>>10955200 (that guy is a turbo aids faggot). Mega is a con that relies a lot on celebrity guests, costuming groups like the Star Wars and Halo ones, and super fun afterparties. If you’re a wallflower or don’t have something set in mind (meeting a celebrity, seeing the Star Wars village etc) it can be overwhelming and in turn make you feel super melancholic and lonely as a result. I prefer it to babycons like AFO but different cons for different folks.
If you really want to see if it’s the specific con or if it’s cons in general getting you down, go to Dragon. If you don’t feel something special during Dragoncon you either have a dopamine issue that requires medicine or cons just don’t do it for you anymore because if you don’t feel anything at Dragoncon it’s nuclear levels of Joever.
>>10955258Dragon is definitely on the list since my friend told me it will heal me. You definitely might have a point about the the focus of megacon beinf celebrity groups, since I have no real interest in waiting in lines for celebrity meetings or seeing a panel of THE FLASH in 2025. All the side activities seemed so underwhelming and there didnt seem to be any real spaces to hang out, but maybe I was just thinking too limited. Maybe an anime focused con would get me back in the right spirits instead of a general nerd culture con. I also didn't socialize too much outside of like the only two other people I saw in Project Moon cosplay, but in general even the game areas felt depressing or camped by the turbo autists that immediately reminded me why I avoided hanging around those spaces.
I wont lie though, the after parties for mega this year absolutely blew ass, thursday was chill i guess but friday was at way too big of a venue and was so overpriced that it felt empty, most of us just ended up going to nearby clubs. Even then the people we met at those after parties seemed almost, idk, pretentious? Like we were bothering them almost meanwhile they were there alone being losers themselves. I wont deny im a bit spoiled on party life since I've lived in a college town for the past few years but we were so annoyed we just left town saturday afternoon instead of gambling on another mid overpriced function.
I also think that despite everyone saying going with friends is easier, being alone lets me feel a lot more free to try things and embarass myself, so it could be that I was worried too much about my friend being bored too, since I knew he'd be if I was.

>>10955260>Megacon parties are ass Ngl bud that’s where you’re losing me, the Ice Bar party remains goated year after year. The themed parties at the Rosen mileage may vary I will admit but the Marvel afterparty was pretty fucking baller this year and the Pokémon one was a little less good but still solid, shitting on them and whining about people seeming “pretentious” is earning you faggot points in my book sadly. If all you do is sperg about anime… yeah they aren’t going to want to talk to you. I was at each of the parties you were at and I had a complete 180 to the experience you did.
Maybe animu centric cons like AFO and Metrocon ARE what you need
>>10955256It was expensive and I had to wait in lines the entire time.
>>10955264maybe im being too hyperbolic in my negativity. i thought the ice bar was actually pretty fun, its a really cool venue, and they had a nice vibe. I guess I just expected more from the subsequent nights. It could also be because I got my tickets late, but that Pokémon one felt especially dead, so having paid like 45 bucks to get there and have like 50 people inside a venue built for 4x the amount mightve played a factor in it, and I generally struggle to socialize in those environments without being a decent amount of alcohol in me. We had a great time after we left and went to the clubs nearby though i wont lie. And no i wasn't sperging about anime i might be autistic but ive got some social awareness. I just mostly asked people about their own cosplays and stories if anything. Was the party saturday night any good? I think I had just went in expecting something different and after being tired from megacon during the day it left a sour taste in my mouth
