i'd like to start a dialogue regarding the filet o fish
for me the filet is the go-to fast food sandwich
apparently its so uncommonly ordered the retarded mcdonalds employees have no idea how to do it
generally i receive the sandwich with the bun toasted when its supposed to be steamed
one time they put the cheese on the same side as the tartar sauce
another they used a mcchicken patty instead of the filet
why is this sandwich so hard for them to make properly?
am i autistic or expecting too much? I don't get it

go to Culver's or Arby's (if available) instead. They have real fish sandwiches
Alternatively, you can do what a thread yesterday was saying and just buy frozen fillets, buns, and make like 8 sandwiches for the price of 2

Anon you're the fucking 'tist with the 'tism here.

ANYONE can make a burger or a pizza or a fisch sandwich at home. AND YET literally millions of people go to places like McDonald's. It's because it's not the same shit if you make it at home. Sometimes people really crave that cheeseburger or Big Macโ„ข or Filet-o-Fishโ„ข. And they can't fucking get the exactly same thing anywhere else.

You don't have to eat or love McD's bullshit but you surely have to concede that you can't simply swap it with a trip to Costco

You're trying to argue that it's 'not the same' like that means anything despite fully acknowledging that all the ingredients are the same
At first you even tried to say you can't get them commercially but even someone thats not me called you out on that retardation with a simple 2-word question.
Now you're saying that a McDonald's fish filet, regardless of its quality, cannot ever be substituted in any fashion despite again, knowing perfectly well that you can make better ones at home?

Your autism makes you incapable of conceding that two of the same kind of sandwich from different places isn't functionally the same. You're so retarded I feel awful for anyone who has to deal with you irl

ah yes, the humble filet o fish (pronounced FILL-ETT of Fish), always a nice half slice of their processed pasteurized cheese product on the top half of the cardboard carton. only good during lent because it doesn't sell and I bet they only manufacture them for this time specifically. pescas very rarely eat fast food and I doubt they would go to mcdicks when there are straight seafood chains and other ff joints that do the fried fish patty but better.
the fof is for the weekend catholic that needs to pickup food for her 20+ kids and her "deathly allergic to seafood" babymaker.

finally. the conversation that we need to be having.

fillet of fish is the most underrated fast food burger/sandwich. As a guy who went to a two michelin restaurant before I would take the fillet of fish over the food I ate that day if it meant I could only have one for the rest of my life.

Fillet of fish isn't a burger, sandwich, or a meal. It's a lifestyle

Slight exaggeration but it indeed is very good. I really wonder why it isn't more popular
To be honest, i have noticed that fish and seafood in general is quite underrepresented in fast food. Maybe it has to do with their less forgiving shelf life which isn't suitable for factory/assembly line style fast food establishments?

It's true. The guy who owned that McDonald's needed a way to keep business during Lent as the area had a large Catholic population and business crashed on Friday.
>The sandwich was the first non-hamburger menu item brought in by Ray Kroc, who purchased McDonald's in 1961. Kroc made a deal with Groen: they would sell two non-meat sandwiches on a Friday, Kroc's Hula Burger (grilled pineapple with cheese on a cold bun) and the Filet-O-Fish, and whichever sold the most would be added to the permanent menu. The Filet-O-Fish "won hands down" and was added to menus throughout 1963 until reaching nationwide status in 1965.

ANY other fish patty and bun and sauce combination will be healthier and cheaper and better for you in every way. But you've bought into the branding. You are literally Canadian, so your opinion matters little. Of course you can't afford it. You make like 2/3 after conversion to USD while spending 1.5x more on everything, then paying much higher taxes on top of that. And it's prepared by one of your newcomers at that.

Whereas for me, an American? I am not gonna spend the time to buy the same processed, preserved ingredients to make a fast food sandwich at home. Why would I do that when I could buy whole foods and cook those? Though I suppose can actually afford whole fish and whole meats while you can't. It makes sense that you recreate fast food at home (lol) since it must be a luxury status symbol for you. I'd rather cook an actual meal at home OR buy a fast food sandwich that saves me the time and effort of cooking at all. Combining the worst of both is utterly pointless.

Do you pay the extra ninety cents to get the second fish patty? Seems like a good deal.

The Filet-o-Fish is my favorite fastfood sandwich. I once ordered the double FoF when it was a limited time menu option a few years back. When I got it I realized they only put one fish filet on the sandwich. I asked the guy if I got the wrong order and showed him my receipt. He said no and that I got the correct order. I told him that wasnn't possible because I ordered the double FoF and only got a single patty. He said they stopped serving the double FoF the day before. I, again, told could NOT be possible since I just ordered it on the self-serve kiosk with the big fucking picture clearly showing two filets on a single bun. He said sorry and that they would fix it as fast they can, but he said that he still couldn't serve me the second fish filet patty that I rightfully paid for. I begged him, "Could you please put a second filet on the sandwich?"

>"no anon the double FoF has been discontinued"

"But I rightfully paid for this second filet, why can't you just walk over to the fryer and get a second one!!"

>"because as i told you anon that item has neen discontinued"

"Please if you could look into the bottom of your heart and just give me the second filet! It's my favorite sandwich!" I implored him several more times trying to appeal to both his logos and pathos, but to no avail. It was finally on the last:

>"im sorry anon. that item has been discontinued"

I had lost my composure and saw vivid images of myself committing arson on this very establishment. I immediately stormed, raced home and filed a chargeback on the double FoF that I was so eagerly awaiting to try. I made sure to call the credit card company and fully explain what just occurred. The case manager I got was decently empathetic enough but I felt like she didn't fully grasp the gravity of the situation.

My grandma likes these things and every time she gets one the cheese is so badly placed that I'm pretty sure my McDonald's has a running competition to see who can chuck a slice of cheese on a Filet-O-Fish from the furthest possible distance

FoF isn't bad but it's too small for the price. It also would need onions or pickles to compliment the party.

things I can buy
>ground meat
>salt and pepper
>american cheese
>buns
>ketchup
>mustard
>onions
>pickles
>potatoes to make into fries

Things I cannot buy
>mcdonalds cheese
>mcdonalds buns
>mcdonalds proprietary blend of meat
>mcdonalds dehyrdated onions
>mcdonalds ketchup and mustard (shit)
>mcdonalds pickles
>a fucking giant griddle that cooks the meat at a specific temperature literally every time
>their weird proprietary oil which has beef tallow in it
>a giant fuckoff deep frier
>mcdonalds fries

look anon I'm not even that guy, but you're stupid if you think you can make an exact replica of a mcdonald's cheeseburger at home without literally stealing an entire mcdicks kitchen and walk-in. They make a specific item. I can make a "better" burger than some shit tier fast food joint but it's objectively not the same thing as one from there. The same thing goes for like 90% of fast food places. Sometimes you want THAT flavor, it's not some weird learned behavior other than it tastes like mcdicks.

The exception is probably something like five guys who ironically charge the most for what's essentially just a standard griddle burger with heinz ketchup on it.

the ironic thing about it is that they only use a half slice of cheese. It's a really weird menu item that requires it's own fryer and steamer kept in the kitchen.

so? we're not talking about objectively the same thing.
you can make burgers and fish sandwiches at home.
I'm not so cucked by marketing that the branding matters

Bk franchisees hate BK corporate and vice versa. Not quite as bad as quiznos but their relationship is generally so bad that the franchisees have literally sued corporate as a group before.

A good BK goes so hard but good fucking luck finding one at this point

it's not just branding you dunce it's a specific THING. If you want THING because you like THING then you get THING, not OTHER THING. The fucking end.

Here's another analogy for you
>my mom sucks at cooking burgers because we don't have a grill and can't use one in her shitty apartment when I come to visit.
>my uncle doesn't suck at cooking burgers because he has a grill and he knows how to use it
>I want my uncle's burger not my mom's because my mom literally cannot make my uncle's burger the same way. It's not possible.

does my uncle have branding now or does he make A THING I like? Figure it out slylock. No matter how motivated I am, I cannot materialize a grill in her apartment.

Same thing goes for a mcdicks burger, you cannot materialize their goddamn kitchen equipment and supply chain. You can make an objectively better burger but you can't make THEIRS and maybe you want that one? I don't even like mcdonalds that much but I can acknowledge why it has a specific appeal. It tastes like mcdonalds

why are these retards still ignoring the OPs topic? Why are they so obsessed with arguing this point of
>theyre NOT the SAME
>here's 20 turboautistic posts reiterating the same thing repeatedly!
>YOU JUST DONT GET IT

Brother in Christ. You're fighting ghosts. No one has a gun to your mommy's head demanding you make a FoF at home exactly how it's made in shop
We get that you love the sandwich as much as OP, hell looks like most of us are positive about it but the thread topic is
> why is this sandwich so hard for them to make properly?

The myriad of answers to this include but aren't limited to
>make a fish sandwich at home (quantity & quality for price)
>here's some other restaurants with consistently good or better fish sandwich options
>quality control can depends on your location, franchisees vs corporate

You, and if you're not lying about not being the other retard, are the only ones that can't suffer other people discussing this in a way that isnt limited to your narrow, retarded contention

Kill yourself. Gonna put some Gordon's in the toaster oven and slide them between a couple burger buns and call it a Filet O Fish seeing as that makes you eternally seethe
