Any home growers...? Pic related is they very first kale ive ever grown in my yard.
How the FUCK do you get rid of the bugs...?
I've washed it for like 15 minutes before taking this picture btw, I still keep finding weird tiny bugs and eggs in the creases, ill just give up and parboil them for extra protein eventually
>>21392666 (OP)spray liquid smoke onto your plants as a natural pesticide
>>21392666 (OP)I have been growing cannabis outdoors since I was a teenager. I just use a forcefield of red construction paper to attract ladybugs. They don't eat the plants and are aggressive towards others insects.
>>21392791this. can order ladybugs too
>>21392666 (OP)That looks like an aphid infestation. You have to stop it before it starts. Aphids are almost impossible to fully remove.
Homestead bro here. I grow pumpkin, all kinds of peppers, tomatoes, watermelon, the list goes on and on
Consider growing in movable containers and having a sacrificial plant. Just accept one plant might get bugs or mites and when you see it, move it away from the rest and just let them have it. Neem oil never seems to work well. Just raising something up in a container makes bugs less likely to get at it, I grow most things in walmart totes with holes drilled in the bottom for drainage
I've had success just spraying dilute Dawn dish soap to get rid of aphids. Do a small trial run a few days in advance, because it burns some plants' leaves. Rinse after 20 minutes or so.
Aphids are the jobbers of the pest world, they lose to a wide variety of treatments.
>>21392791>use a forcefield of red construction paperCan you go into a bit more detail? This sounds interesting.
>>21392882>I grow most things in walmart totes with holes drilled in the bottom for drainageAyyy nice, I do the same with the Costco totes
>>21393002I do this too, heavily diluted dish soap in a spray bottle.

>>21392666 (OP)I used to mix wool clothes detergent with warm water and tip that over roses. seems to do the trick. had to be the wool specific detergent though for some reason.
>>21393075he's just high and hallicinating forcefields
I have a greenhouse where I grow peppers, tomatoes, melon, basil and cucumber.
Scattered around my property I have pumpkin and butternut.
A few plots of land with potaties, sweet potatoes, zuchini, pickles, more tomatoes, carrots, parsnip rucola, lettuce and broccoli.
Some beds for herbs and such where i also grow strawberries.
2 apple trees, 1 pear, 1 prume, 1 cherry, 2 walnut trees, a few hazelnut trees, 2 blueberry bushes, 1 raspberry bush, 2x cranberries, blackberries.
Working on preparing more land for next year, my goal is to be able to use 4-year rotations while providing 80%+ of my (and wife) required food.
Apart from grains and meat that is, I have a good bio butcher with grass fed animals and get flour from the mill to bake my bread.
Not only does it keep me physically active without having to be gay in a gym, it draws me outside all year round and gives a lot of fullfillment. Plus, what's better than fresh self grown food? Nothing.
>>21392666 (OP)I've bought kale at the grocery store and it had bugs like that on it. I recall just rinsing them out and/or cleaning them with a napkin
>>21392791now that I think about it, i can't remember when was the last time I saw a lady bug irl.
>>21394183Sounds very cool. In case it helps I’ve bought cover crop seeds from these guys before:
https://hearneseed.com/
And bulk fruit plant seedlings from here:
https://scenichillfarmnursery.com/
I’m not sure if they’re the best sources but the prices seem reasonable, and all the stuff I’ve bought from the second one has done really well (their prices include shipping so the cost per plant for 1 or 2 is high, but if you’re ordering a lot of the same plant it’s pretty good)
>>21392666 (OP)Ive accepted defeat anon but here's what helps:
Regular jet spray those fuckers away
Buy lady bugs -- natural predators
Neem oil
This helped keep my leafs intact, but i still find them when i harvest so I wash them well before freezing. Either way extra protein.
>>21392666 (OP)I gave up trying to grow any cruciferous vegetables, they are bug magnets. Especially those faggot cabbage butterflies, laying eggs that turn into those green caterpillars. They will devistate your kale harder than any aphids.
>>21395099Bacillus thuringiensis is a good remedy for caterpillars.
>>21392666 (OP)City slickers ste so spoiled lmao
>>21395008Nta but do you know of any other good websites for various seedlings?
