If this was "invented" today it would be nothing more than a passing tik tok trend for a few weeks then die out. Sad times we live in.

I mean, it's got a few more ingredients than that. it's not like uber complicated but it's more involved than you're giving it credit for.
I imagine similar dressings existed here and there, but this guy was the first to sell and market it, so..

This, unfortunately the almighty Caesar and Green Goddess were both defeated by the more ruthless Ranch Ninja of Hidden Valley to become a definitive king of creamy dressing. On a related note, where the fuck do I go to find fresh Tarragon to make this verdant bitch?

Are you genuinely retarded? Ranch dressing has been a thing for ages.
>but muh hidden valley steakhouse
Southernfags were making that shit since the 19th century just by dumping a spice mix into mayonnaise, like all other dressings of the time. The colonel's secret recipe is just the shit you use to make ranch dressing dump into flour because apparently seasoning flour used to be some super secret hidden technique passed down by the 13 ancient masters.

In garden centres, you need to grow your own. The variety you need (French tarragon) is sterile, it can't be bred but needs to be multiplied manually. The varieties you find in regular shops aren't worth the money.
