I don't use lighter fluid at all. It's all lump charcoal and wood via a chimney starter, and I don't use the Kraft singles. I get real cheddar like any self-respecting American.

American men like food and they like being outside. Sorry if you're too gay to understand the appeal.

Now hold on just a dang minute... is that charcoal I smell? Son, the only thing charcoal adds is shame and soot. Propane gives you a clean burn, consistent heat, and controlโ€”thatโ€™s what grilling is about! In this house we believe in propane and propane accessories. That's not just a fuel, that's a way of life! Itโ€™s a difference between right and very wrong, and I orta kick your ass for such jackassery!

It always cracked me up how they had a guy who was so violently Texan dedicate his entire soul to propane.
Like, nobody teased him for being a yankee fag for that?

They don't know any better.

They love their steroid meat with added hormones, maybe one day one of them could get a passport and find real beef?

>They love their steroid meat with added hormones, maybe one day one of them could get a passport and find real beef?
What's wrong with it?
I'm asking because I like steroid and hormone infused meat, and I currently am unaware of any proof or evidence that this is bad for me. If it's bad for my meat, I don't really care, because it's supposed to taste delicious.

Maybe this is too Texas inside baseball, but Hank is a parody of a very specific type of Texan dad who grew up in a place that was rural but is now fully swallowed up by suburban development for Dallas (you can also apply this stereotype to Houston).
For some reason these guys always use propane grills, I think because the nicest grills at Home Depot are typically propane and a nice grill is a status symbol among the aggressively middle class. But these dorks usually can't actually properly smoke meat or even do something as basic as grill a cheeseburger so charcoal or wood would be wasted on them anyway. Hence why Hank and Peggy are consistently shown to be bad cooks.
If you move to Texas your first move should be to secure a friend who has decided he is going to be the smoked meats guy for the friend group because that means almost anytime somebody throws a party he is showing up with a nice smoked brisket.

Peggy is a bad cook, Hank isn't. Or at least he's never shown to be a particularly bad one compared to Peggy where it's a common punchline or occasional subplot in the early seasons.

I get the point he's making though. Everyone at the barbeque has to be the best even when they're doing something wrong for every feasible purpose. Hank turns up his nose at charcoal which is fine, but even snubs smoking with wood chips and other more refined processes because his personality is based around how much better propane is.

Insert a number of steel skewers into a burger patty crossways and place it on an induction burner. The skewers will be heated by the energy field and cook the burger from the inside out.
