Didn't have any other means to cook fries without a deep fried (and didn't have a chippy around at the time) now I use an air fryer and I will refuse oven chips.

I like em
It's just a way of cooking potatoes.
If they weren't called "fries" you wouldn't be so mad

Just like boiling a steak is a way of cooking steaks, retard.

You're just being a contrarian. Nobody with a sane mind chooses to cook fries in the oven.

based of the most retarded kind, best fries I've ever had were oven finished

"Oven fries" are just pre-cooked potatoes.
You're mad because McCain Foods call them "fries", which they are not. Doesn't mean they taste bad.

I can assure you there were more people in the world making their fries in the oven before air fryers became spread because most people don't bother with deep fryers

Will do tomorrow, so you can cope and seethe. It’s called a Sunday roast, and it’s actually quite good. I do cheat and use a pressure cooker though, which is fine. Real boiled steak dishes do exist, but I’m already making the roast. It’s a Filipino thing I’ve been meaning to try, bistec encebolado, where they basically boil marinated thin sliced steak in a pot under a layer of onions. We do like onions in this household, I do not know why.

you're a retard. McCain pre fries the darn thing so you don't have to. Your fries are still fried fries, you're only finishing them in the oven.

Yeah that's of course completely the same retard.
Maybe want to tell me I should put dry noodles in the microwave
But you know what? You can actually make steak in the oven just fine, because an oven is literally just a shitty air fryer
Anonymous No.21403225
>>21403073
You got that backwards. An air fryer is a shitty oven. Call me when you can use a broiler in a shit redundant appliance like an air fryer. Those toys are for retards or poors who can't handle the superiority of modern ovens.

before the widespread use of air fryers and high powered convection toaster ovens, regular oven was the best way to cook potatoes for a regular person that doesn't want their entire house to permanently smell like grease

Just make potato wedges at this point, which are better than fries anyways
Anonymous No.21404239
I do oven fries a lot but they never end up crispy
Ive heard conflicting things on air frying
I only bake because its cleaner and less hassle than frying and getting rid of the oil (inb4 le not my problem)

try buying breaded fries and bake them according to the instructions but use a perforated cooking sheet

If you soak the taters prior to baking, they will come out similiarly crispy to breaded fries. Better for you to.

your oven chips suck because you a) didn't preheat, or b) didn't baste periodically with extra oil

I'm pretty sure every australian family has done this, whether it be frozen chips or potatoes cut at home (probably less so now with air fryers, but still pretty common).

Very few in the past would want to fuck around with a metric shit tonne of oil in the home kitchen when you can dump them on a tray and bake.

>Oven fries
eat em like once or twice per week

just
>wash a bunch of potatoes
>cut in stripes
>toss in Olive Oil + Salt (and sometimes herbs like Rosemary, Thyme, Oregano etc.)
>put in oven for about 40min and turn over half way through
>let them cool a little spread out (dries the crust)
>then put on salt / spices to taste
it's like 5min of actual work, easy cleanup and taste great

They're mini convection ovens, and are more concentrated or controlled, you could always buy these as "toaster ovens" the higher end ones did the exact same thing.

Unless you have a really powerfull full sized convection oven you won't get the same result as an air fryer. Although, if you have an electric oven, you can get the same results by buying "coated" frozen fries, and placing them on the bottom rack and cooking them a bit longer than usual.
