How do you learn how to choose between olive oil, vegetable oil, peanut oil, avocado oil, salted butter, unsalted butter, bacon grease, and lard?

the flavor you want, the temperature you're raising the oil to, and the cost

Just use Canola for everything. It's the healthiest, most effective/versatile and near cheapest.

>olive oil
Salad and some mediterrean food or friday
>vegetable oil
I have a bottle of canola oil I use it to oil my cutting board and wooden utensils
>peanut oil
No
>avocado oil
No
>salted butter
What is the point when you can just put in the salt in normal butter
>butter
It's good for friday, sauces, pierogi, eggs, generally low temperature frying, great with bread and such. It will burn over 150C so don't burn it if youre really frying meat or such
>bacon grease
This is lard
>lard
I use lard for most frying because it is dirt cheap. Great for meat and such, onions, whatever else. It works great for the oven when you don't want something to stick.
It has a significant taste so buy duck fat if you don't want that taste.
