I worked for an old Italian specialty foods shop and every time they got a new olive oil they would do this and pass it around. I can hardly imagine anything more disgusting.

I do this all the time. I like to bake a little rosemary into my bread and this winds up being a really good combo. Top notch snack.

That depends on your diet. I have 2-4 tbsp a day and I actually went from having cholesterol issues back to being healthy, but I eat mostly lean protein so I'm not ingesting a ton of fat. Putting a tbsp of olive oil in a small dish and dipping a slice of bread in it is in no way unhealthy.

Oh and as per my doctor, the cholesterol culprit was corn syrup. Don't ever drink soda.

You know what. I find oil enhances any food experience.
>[how could it, it doesn't have any flavor!]
That's the thing. It may not have flavor of its own, but when combined with other foods, it makes them pop. Try simple spaghetti, al dente, with only just a smattering of tomato sauce, but with generous dash of olive oil. It causes you to literally inhale it. How will you describe the taste or flavor? You can't. But you just want it more.
