>>21427940 (OP)>Is a working class man like me who makes $15 an hour supposed to afford beef at all???First of all, stop shopping at Publix if you're not willing to pay for conveniences like someone chopping up a simple lean roast with your own knife and cutting board. Personally, I like chuck roast (when on sale) for making a nice stew-like dish. Will I pay $38 for a large roast, nope, but I'll get it when it's $17 for 3lbs.
I suggest that Save-a-Lot, BJs and Costco, Aldi, and Winn-Dixie which is the "beef people" with have the best prices on large roasts or meat in bulk, will have better dollars per pound. Aldi for chicken, BIs for whole pork loins.
Families and the working poor will understand that you never shop at 1 store only. You'll have a house, a garage, a chest freezer, and you'll buy in bulk because you have the space to buy your paper goods in bulk. You'll get your milk from CVS, where it is a loss leader prices, your boxed pastas when it is only on BOGO, where you'll stock up, and fresh produce from costco in quantity, or aldi for being a small size.
