thoughts on Portuguese cuisine? they have by far the highest fish consumption in Europe and eat cod pretty much every day.

I thought Icelanders eat the most fish? Or are you referring to continental Europeans only.

Okay.

Whenever someone mentions Portugal I think South America. I know it's not there but I still think it.

The only octopus that can go head to head with the Greek one.

>"Greek" octopus
lmao
You mean "literally every Mediterranean country" octopus. It's all exactly the same and all delicious. Unless Greece has some super specific, hyper secret method of preparation other than beat, blanch, grill and lemon because that's the only way I've had it over there. Italians, at least, have octopus mayonnaise, which is unique to Italy.

In Greece they make a kind of chimichuri from parsley olive oil lemon and, they don't make it like that in Spain or Portugal, they put garlic in those countries and sometimes different spices.

That's true but I could've sworn I've had it with garlic in Greece, too. Maybe not. Have you had octopus mayonnaise? You cook a 'pus in a pot then use the water it casts off, once cooled, in place of egg to make mayonnaise. It's fantastic.

No, but it sounds interesting.
>That's true but I could've sworn I've had it with garlic in Greece, too
I think they do when they make a cold salad with the octopus but when it's grilled I don't think I've had it with garlic. At least in the places I've been to, mainly in Northern Greece (Thessaloniki) and a few Islands. Perhaps in Southern Greece they prepare it different. Idk it just hits right when I order it in Greece, it's slathered in that olive oil parsley thing and it's just fantastic.

Maybe I'm biased because i really like Greece..

I've only been to the Western islands, Athens and two "cities" of the Peloponnese, Patras and Kalamata. I had octopus in Kalamata, definitely with garlic, and on the islands, also garlic, but not in Athens or Patras
Kalamata and Patras, being in the Peloponnese, are the South.
I'm honestly not too impressed with Greek food or Greece in general. I don't dislike it but it's too familiar to me because I'm from a Greek-influenced part of Italy and it just seems like back home on a smaller scale and people who talk funny

it's a screenshot from a phone, when you bring it up in the image viewer it usually defaults to a paintbrush type thing and they probably tapped the screen while saving the pic

I mean yeah there are 300 populated islands and they all have their quirks. Athens is a nightmare honestly, the traffic is insane. It's good if you set up in the good neighbourhoods and someone drives you everyone. I was so pissed of driving in Athens, it's unreal.
>I had octopus in Kalamata, definitely with garlic, and on the islands, also garlic, but not in Athens or Patras
Interesting...I've never been to Kalamata and Patras.

Oh you are the anon you said he also eats green beans with feta cheese? :)

I really like the kondosuvli pork stuff and the spit roasted lamb, pastries are nice. Spanakopita, bougatsa ect.

We do eat that but I didn't remember mentioning it so I looked it up on warosu.org/ck and sure enough, it looks like I'd had. Yep, that's me, Bulgar/Greekbro.
>Athens is a nightmare honestly, the traffic is insane
It's not much different than Naples. Everything is uphill, somehow both ways, stop lights are merely suggestions and tourists have no idea how to navigate a circus/roundabout.
>kondosuvli
Short kebab? Kontos souvli? I'm not sure I've actually had that unless it's just the standard pork kebab. Love that shit.

Kontosuvli or whatever. Sulvi means skewer (as you probably know), this is the pork version.
>I've actually had that unless it's just the standard pork kebab. Love that shit.
Yeah is probably the same thing.
Yeah, it's a giant pork skewer thing.
When I go to Thasos I always order this and it's amazing.

I also really love Mussels saganaki, with the feta cheese and tomato sauce, you ever have that? It's so addicting with some nice peace of bread.

The other thing I really love when I go to Thessaloniki, there's a restaurant in my neighbourhood, their main thing is coal grilled spatchcocked chicken, and they slather it with this olive oil, mustard and herbs sauce. It's amazing.

It sounds amazing. We kinda do chicken a little on the more basic side with standard lemon, garlic, rosemary etc but the main reason to go out for chicken is the potatoes. The chickens are skewered and roasted above the potatoes, which are dusted in chickpea flour. As they roast, the chickens drip their flavoured fat onto the taters which, coupled with the chickpea flour, make them the crispiest fucking potatoes you'll ever have.

That's sounds so good, might do this, I have some hooks and I might hang the chicken in my oven.
>dear zeus... I can only get so hard...
It was so good, had to give half to the neighbours because I'm trying to get leaner for the beach lol.

I once saw saltfish for sale, and I thought about buying one to try and make bacalhau, but I chickened out. Not least because it wasn't cheap.
