If anything, I'd encourage you to hunt your own food, provided you waste none of it. What I have an issue with is factory farming with its nightmarish conditions and terrible impact on the environment.

Agreed. Im trying to cut out meat as much as I can and leave it for a couple days a week rather than an everyday thing.
It also feels really good to not feel dictated by my tastebuds.

I don't really care about the ethical and environmental implications of veganism.

i feel that way too. if i think about eating meat i have bad dreams about animals being slaughtered every time.

the only time i eat meat and don't feel bad about it is if someone has leftovers they don't want and i know it'll end up in the trash if i don't eat it. eating it seems better than letting it go to waste.

i assume it would be like this for some people raising their own animals. if they really needed the nutrition, or if they were culling animals before winter who wouldn't survive, i imagine there's less room for guilt there. but simply choosing to eat meat because you can all the time just makes me feel like i'm being cruel.

there are plant foods you can eat that don't require killing the entire plant. it's not entirely realistic to think everyone can eat this way right now but it would be nice if at some point we didn't even have to kill plants anymore too.

No, it doesn't. Anything that doesn't get eaten by larger predators is scavenged by opportunistic animals and insects like vultures, wolves if they're hungry enough, crows, ants, and flies. What is left is decomposed and used up by micro organisms and bacteria until there is literally nothing left. In fact, things like whale falls are a key source of food for anything living on the bottom of the ocean floor. Nature wastes nothing.
