Is it true that Americans are so unhealthy because we fry our foods in the wrong fluids? What's the best type of fluid for frying with? I use butter a lot for pan frying but that doesn't work for deep frying. Do I use olive oil or avocado oil for that? I haven't branched out much beyond those and coconut oil.

Cold pressed seed oils are healthy. Avocado oil, coconut oil, and ghee are great choices for frying.

What kind of stuff are you deep frying? It feels like the healthy oils are too expensive for deep frying so I normally make an exception for the edible seed oils

its because we drive past strip malls like this constantly on the way back from work. Theres a hundred corporations hoping you had just enough of a shitty day to want reprieve in their million dollar r&d meat product with a soda wash. Its not the entire problem but theres so many fuckin โ€œsmartโ€ people out here who work tirelessly to sell 2% more wendys than the last year. Basically everything is feelings and not at all about feelings at the same time.

Also its because fatties eat a holy shit amount of food

i don't like the way it tastes and it seems more likely to give me an upset stomach than plant fats.

i mostly avoid the ultra processed seed oils when i can but olive oil and coconut oil seem alright.

also peanut oil and corn oil actually taste kind of good too if they're fresh. but soybean oil tastes fishy even with a freshly opened bottle.

Yeah the problem is just the seed oils. Not the amount of food washed down with seed oils Americans glut themselves on in between snacks and sugar drinks while getting no exercise.

>Wake up
Fry potatoes, fry eggs
>Go to the shop before work
Buy bread, full of oil ("bread improver")
>10 AM break
coffee, cookies with palm oil
>Noon
MacDonalds or Dominos. Bun/base is full of fructose corn syrup, cream, soybean oil. And a cola.
>Finally home
TV, bag of crisps. Or something healthy like a slice of fresh bread with Nutella (50% sugar and palm oil).
>Weekend
Hit the gym, then to the game. Or barbecue. Or it's my weekend with the kids: just this once won't hurt. Or we go out and have more Wendy's, BK, Arby's and Pizza Hut.

And that's not even taking into consideration the preservatives, hormones, pesticides and general lack of nutrients. But sure. It's the seed oils.

Seed oils aren't healthier than animal fats. All the positive aspects for them stem from the concept of saturated fats being really terrible for you compared to unsaturated fats. The still lingering belief is that saturated fats raise cholesterol and clogs arteries while being terrible for heart health. The wrinkle with that belief is that it was proven to be false. Turns out saturated fats are no worse for cardiovascular health than unsaturated fats. It's gonna be viewed as one of those things that really altered diets for at the minimum of no benefit but possibly to the detriment of human health long term because all that was really focused on was replacing one fat with another and the long term affects of limiting saturated fat intake haven't been studied for shit.
