I went to a buc-ees just Monday for the first time.
The line of gas pumps was over 300 yards long. That was kind of impressive from a pure American excess point of view.

The food was trash, actually. Not even good by gas station standards. And given the size of their operation it's truly shameful.

Yes I got the brisket. It was the best thing we got and it sucked. Other sandwich was worse. Tendies were school shooting tier. A bunch of branded snacks were also subpar. Even the coffee was considerably worst than typical gas station fare.

well they make like 100s of different foods but I tried 2 of them, sausage biscuit and some other biscuit, and they were good. on par with fast food restaurants breakfast. the experience of being inside the store to get that food is miserable though, there are so many fucking people. it’s what I imagine disney world to be like during peak visitation. the level of distress it caused me made me think I had autism

If you lived in the Texas Triangle before Buccees popped up everywhere, you know just how disgusting the bathrooms were basically everywhere. They've built a billion dollar brand based on their ability to maintain a clean restroom.
The way people larp about loving Buccees is completely lame though and a testament to a terminally sterile suburban life. I've never met somebody who lives in an interesting part of Texas get hyped over Buccees.
The food is pretty good though, a step above fast food for sure but not so much better that you are going out of your way for it.

Strangely diverse, town to town, indeed. Northern Virginia is also it's own entity unlike the rest of the state, even split politically.Foodwise, you can't get any better than Northern VA/DC choices.

This is a highway stop like most of Buc-ees. I bet they offered something on inauguration day more than just the hype of newness, some kind of Ts or food freebies and samples. People look too damn excited. The prices are not that inflated, but other than a big selection, the food is not THIS exciting.

It's something that zoomers will never really understand, since it's said they don't do real classic American road trips (or they try, but with limited range because of their electric cuckmobiles). The difference in "average" between the US and French Canada is mind-blowing. In DFW, an 8/10 woman with fair hair was a once a week occurrence. In QC, it's an hourly occurrence if you travel by foot. Fat people under the age of sixty are few, and easily three-quarters of the young population (under 35) is lean. Conversely, while in TX I hardly ever encountered young, lean people in the city. I would assume half of the youth was obese, and about 5% were morbidly so.

In my experience, "average" is beautiful. But when an "average" person is packed in 100+ lbs of fat, they become ugly. ANYONE at a certain level of obesity will be "ugly", and the US is absolutely filled to the brim with fat people.

guess things are different up there in DFW (i haven't spent a significant amount of time up there so can't comment). i'm in austin close to downtown and there are loads of beautiful women, especially on the trail surrounding the downtown lake. and then obviously the further you go out from the inner core, the fatter people get.

I've lived in 5 states and I can confirm there is a marked difference in how the average person looks. In Milwaukee for example, "average" looks like a somewhat less extreme version of the op video - most people are fat and badly dressed, but not nauseatingly so. The average younger person might have trouble walking a mile without becoming exhausted. You tend to assume everyone around subsists off fried garbage and HFCS soda and lots of beer. A person who spent their whole life there could infer that "average" just means "ugly".

In Los Gatos on the other hand, "average" means reasonably well put together, most people have a look like they've definitely eaten a vegetable in the last 24 hours, perhaps quite a lot of vegetables. Even people in their 70s look like they could easily walk a few miles and think nothing of it.

I can only imagine how bad things would be south of the Mason-Dixon line. I've changed planes in such places but I've successfully avoided leaving the airport security area.
