Crunchiness, juiciness, and a bit of vinegar flavor. All three are beneficial to a burger.
Lettuce, on the other hand, offers little to no benefits and does not belong on a quality burger.

I don't get how restaurants do it. The onions and pickles are just right while I try it and it just doesn't work. Most restaurants anyways, there have been a few that's just too fat of pickles.

That's retarded nonsense. We've been putting pickles on burgers for 100 years. You don't know what 'meme' means apparently.

Is this how the zoomer expresses that he doesn't care for pickles?

I only add pickles to cheeseburger fried rice and cheeseburger burrito/wraps*, not to actual cheeseburgers

>* form the meat into sausage shape rather than patties, cook as normal and place onto wrap with an absolute fucktonne of vegetables and a pickle spear; I like burrito burgers because I get more veg in that than if I were to eat it as a typical sandwich.

2 chips per burger. 3 if you want a little more. Pickles should always go on the bottom bun immediately after any condiments on it.

>What do they really add?
Crunch and acidity, which balances the richness of beef and cheese
If you don't like pickle flavor, you can substitute them with pickled red onions to serve the same purpose

One or two pickles is a welcome addition to a burger but I wouldn't want any more than that. There is no such thing as too many pickles on a chicken sandwich. Even if you put so many that pickles predominate the taste, it's still good.

The purpose of a pickled item on a sandwich is to add acid. This complements the whole sandwich, which is why it is featured on burgers, hot dogs (relish), bbq, and chicken sandwiches, as well as many other sandwiches.

The acid helps cut through the fat and balance things.

Dry em off. Pickles in restaurants sit in metal bins sans all their pickle fluid, so it all runs to the bottom and they dry off quite a bit. Fresh out of the jar they are fully saturated and too moist.

They add an overwhelming amount of pickle brine and ruin that bite completely. Maybe a little soggy crunch.
Additionally, I find I often don't completely bite through the slice. The entire pickle slice then gets dragged out, often dragging other toppings and any condiment in contact with that pickle slice.
It can potentially undermine the structural integrity of the entire burger while making a mess.

shit texture that doesnt match
sour taste that doesnt compliment the burger
they're ice cold from being in the fridge that ruins the burger
and they slide out ruining your clothes/table.

there's nothing positive about them.
