ayo Americans be like
>any chicken between two slices of bread, whether burger buns sandwich bread, is a "chicken sandwich"
>but don't you dare call a hamburger a "beef sandwich"
and then they'll call you crazy for saying "chicken burger"

I know lots of people who say lots of things. I call them chickenburgers and always have. Depends. If it's a breaded chicken patty thing it's definitely a burger. If it's a grilled chicken breast it's a sandwich. But if it's using a burger bun I could go either way. It's both. The mcdonkuld ones are burgers if they have breading, but I think only shitty diners and bowling alleys would still have the chicken patties that are like ground chicken with breading also and deep fried.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DG7w_a6CjLw

Like in the clip he says "I wanna eat chicken burgers!" But earlier in the scene he says "I'm a 28 year old man, I can eat a chicken sandwich if I want."

Proving that it's both. The same guy says both within the span of a minute. He's both Canadian AND American too.

Your argument is DEAD, hombre.

I don't care about your anecdotal assumptions. I posted a major motion picture where the term 'chicken burgers' is used. There was a surprising lack of outcry at the time over the misuse of the term as well as in the comment sections from the many clips of that scene.
I don't know where you get your "information" or why you care so much, but in my nearly 50 years on the earth I can confidently say that chicken burger has been as prevalent if not more than chicken sandwich since I've been paying attention to the subject, which has been most of that time since I love those damned chickenburgers so fucking much. I think I'll make one later. Sounds good now.

that's because a beef patty sandwich has a more specific name is all. You don't call a hotdog an open-face split-bun sausage sandwich either, right?

It's called 'chicken salad' as something involving tuna and mayonnaise, among other ingredients, is referred to as 'tuna salad'. Words can be versatile. I'm calling a sandwich made with chicken salad neither chicken burger nor chicken sandwich. It's specifically a chicken salad sandwich.

How did you know I'm a fat fuck?

it's completely acceptable to call a burger a sandwich in the US. a burger is a type of sandwich, so all burgers are sandwiches but not all sandwiches are burgers. i don't call a chicken sandwich a "chicken burger" for the same reason i wouldn't call a Reuben a "corned-beef Jew burger". calling any random sandwich a burger is like calling a pretzel a cake because they're both baked goods.
