Do you drink milk, /ck/?

Adults should drink a glass of milk every day. It's one of the most complete and convenient sources of quality nutrition.

I don't really get that as much anymore since I started warming it up a bit first. Drinking cold milk feels unpleasant to me now. It doesn't have to be warm but at least a little closer to body temp. I think the fat and protein cause some buildup when it's too cold.

Milk is a complete food for whatever animal it's made for, and damn near a complete food for any mammal. Cow's milk in particular contains everything a human needs but vitamin C, so any lactose tolerant person could theoretically thrive on a diet of nothing but milk and citrus fruit.

>Cow's milk in particular contains everything a human needs but vitamin C
it lacks iron, copper, it's a bit low in b3, not much omega 3/6. some people might need more carbs. it's still very nutritious and i drink a lot of it but it's not really made for long-term consumption as the only thing, animals typically only consume it for a short while as they're growing but they need to start eating other foods to not become malnourished.

a lot of pastoralist cultures would mix milk and blood because it would provide iron and some copper.

also raw milk actually does have some vitamin C. it's not a huge amount but it's enough to prevent scurvy especially if you drink a good amount of it each day. pasteurized milk has none though.

Milk BTFO: Kefirโ€™s Based Benefits Will Leave You Shookโ€”Kefir Is the Gigachad of Dairy (Fermentation Makes Milk Cry in the Corner)
>Probiotics: Kefir contains diverse live bacteria and yeasts, supporting gut health; milk lacks probiotics.
>Digestibility: Fermentation reduces lactose, making kefir easier to digest for lactose-intolerant individuals.
>Nutrient Bioavailability: Enhances absorption of calcium, magnesium, and B vitamins (e.g., B12, folate).
>Bioactive Compounds: Produces peptides and kefiran with potential antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effects.
>Reduced Allergens: Partially broken-down proteins may lower allergenic potential.
>Tangy Flavor: Fermentation creates a unique, effervescent taste, unlike milkโ€™s neutral flavor.
>Immune Support: Probiotics and bioactive compounds may strengthen immunity, unlike plain milk.
>Blood Sugar Regulation: Fermentation may lower glycemic impact, potentially aiding blood sugar control.
>Cholesterol Management: Some studies suggest kefir may reduce LDL cholesterol, an effect not seen with milk.
>Anticarcinogenic Potential: Kefirโ€™s bioactive compounds may inhibit cancer cell growth, based on preliminary research.

No it isn't. Milk has less than half the sugar of Coke. Lactose also doesn't spike your blood sugar as much as cane sugar or corn syrup. Unless you're diabetic then you don't really have to worry about the sugar in milk. Sugar in whole foods is generally fine.

that's a little over twice the RDA if you're a man. it should be plenty unless it's a poorly absorbed form of iron. iron bisglycinate with vitamin C is supposed to be the best other than heme iron.

it's the RDA for women and if you're a woman you should probably be supplementing iron more than that anyway. a lot of women have undiagnosed iron deficiency.

>>21453922
it mostly matters if it's consumed at the same time. drinking milk and then having something with iron 8 hours later won't completely stop you from absorbing it. plants have things that inhibit iron absorption too.

I consume a lot of dairy because it's easy protein and have clear skin and no bloating. It's fucked up to drink protein powder with water

No i dont drink milk because its meh at best. Cheese, yogurt and other dairy are far superior in taste.
My primary drink is water. Thats 98% of what i drink, the rest is coffee, tea and alcohol.
