I freeze my butter in bulk so the shelf-life extension is not as big of a deal, and sometimes you want the butter unsalted when you're using it with already salty ingredients. Caviar butter is very good but if you start with salted butter it's too much.

Really you're not wrong honestly, it's a good idea to salt your butter because unless you're really good at washing it, your butter will not last nearly as long as storebought.

>and don't want to use an entire oven
i never understood that reasoning for an air fryer

my regular sized convection oven takes like ~5-6min to be on 180°C
granted it can remove moisture from the air
but anything I throw into it comes out just as quick and crispy as it would from an air fryer

do you try to save the like 1kWh of energy it takes more?

The same people who buy air fryers are the same people who bought that ninja creamy thing. Companies prey on a person's inability to conceive that there's an already established way to accomplish something. So they make a different version of it that accomplishes the same thing and market it heavily. So it essentially becomes a meme. That ninja creamy thing accomplishes the same exact thing as putting frozen fruit in a food processor, But it looks novel and interesting, And they market it towards different cohorts.

If your oven isn't convection then an air fryer does something it doesn't. And an air fryer is useful if you're making a large or complex meal with a lot of components and you'd like to be able to cook or keep warm different things at different temps.

You're too much of a cooklet to get value out of what is effectively a second oven with a faster preheat. I'm not referring to those mini basket air fryers at your uncle Louie's house, I mean a proper 2-door one. Stick to frozen pizzas.

I don't care about ninja products but you're wrong about air fryers and calling you an idiot guarantees someone would argue with me. I agree that everyone who buys faggot gadgets probably owns an air fryer but it still has use in the kitchen even if people of your skill level tend to buy them unnecessarily.

>If your oven isn't convection
aren't those standard for like 20y now?

>keep warm different things
doing that in an oven, without any further protection is bad anyway, dries your food
a heat lamp will do the same
or even better bain maries

>you'd like to be able to cook different things at different temps
fair point
if I cook more complex meals I typically have my grill burning as well

but then again
you could do all that with a decent stove + pots as well

so unless you have a tiny kitchen with no oven or a shitty oven in your rental
i still don't get air fryers

>>21456702
>with a faster preheat
my oven literally has the same preheat time (~5min)
Anonymous No.21456763 [Report] >>21456767

>aren't those standard for 20 years now?
No, many are not. and again you can cook at two temps if you have two ovens either way.

>if you fuck up how you keep the food warm in the oven it will be bad, and you can also take up space on your stovetop instead of in the corner of the kitchen
Sounds like if you're not a retard then there are times when an air fryer can be useful. If you don't like using it then that's fine but having two separate ovens is a nice convenience, particularly when you want many different components of a large meal to "finish" at the same time so that less things need to sit in an oven or bain marie keeping warm.

Anonymous No.21456773 [Report]
>>21456767
Sounds like half of the ovens you use are not convection then. 5 minutes preheat is also very fast unless you live in the fucking Congo or somewhere similarly hot, so for most people the faster preheat is a valid point. Most ovens take 10-15 minutes or longer.

I microwave them for 5 minutes first on medium high setting, take them out and poke holes with a fork, cover in oil and salt and toss in the air fryer at highest temperature for 12 or 15 minutes and the last 2 minutes open up the potatoes adding topping of choice. My earliest tries weren't so good, your devices might need less or more times and temperatures

it is my pic, these specific ones I have are kind of smallish and if the corners aren't pressed down by something they will be pulled up by the air and kind off cover the food.
