It's probably not Greek. See how it's pistachio and not walnut?

Like another anon stated, it's good when it very fresh from the oven, and crisp. It's good all soaked up and nice, but just not the "best"

I feel like baklava should be way more expensive than it is considering the effort to make it, and I feel blessed to have been able to try some in my lifetime as a poor american peasant zogslave who will never own a home.

Whenever I've had baklava before, I usually dislike the sugar syrup glaze they pour on top. To me, like, the nut portion is already sweetened enough. Otherwise, I'd imagine I'd enjoy it similarly to a French flakey pastry with any sweetened filling.

It's flake pastry plus nuts, oil, and sweet syrup. It's going to be good no matter who makes it.
I like these little things. There's some big Syrian bakery that makes pretty much all of the decent baklava in the country.

Why I hate it for being super sweet, it shouldn't be dry. I don't like it even when properly made so I can't imagine how awful it must be if you've only had dry ones. The only variety I didn't completely fucking despise is this one my former cleaning lady, an Algerian, made. It was made of almond, which I don't usually care for very much and prefer pistachio for eating out of hand but something about how she made it just worked out better than any pistachio baklawa I've had.

It's dying out. I'm literally the only one in my family of my generation who has even a passing knowledge of Griko. My older brothers and sister can understand it, but can't really speak any.
