Which cake is best?
I like the standard types of cake but I feel there's a whole world of less common cakes I may be missing out on.

That's pretty fat I reckon. Everyone's too busy eating. That's why the board is so slow.

Jellycake
>Put a pack of plain biscuits in a food processor with melted butter
>Press into a square dish
>Mix coconut and condensed milk
>Pour over base
>Make up pineapple jelly and allow to cool
>Pour over top
>Let set in the fridge
I did one with lime zest and juice, and coconut in the condensed milk with a lime jelly on top. You can leave the condensed milk plain which is what the original recipe calls for the top with whatever flavour you want.

Mud Cake (no layers, single form, not dense but not too airy, sometimes covered with a chocolate or cream sauce)
Cheesecake (many varieties, can be bake or no bake, crust or no crust)
Banana & Carrot (the line between cake & bread is VERY thin here)
Gateau (Black Forest is the most commonly known type, 2 or 3 layers with lots of cream involved)
Angle/Devil's Food Cake/Red Velvet (usually an in-between style of cut, layered Mud Cake done Gateau style but not covered externally)
Meringue (Has a pie crust, then a filling, then the meringue on top)
Pavlova (Made from meringue, but doesn't have a pie crust, instead the entire thing is formed from Meringue, can be a controversial call saying this is a "cake" as it has no flour)
Brownie\Sticky Date Pudding (extremely dense
Torte (usually multilayered, most commonly differentiated from Mud & Gateau by use of a thick icing layer on top rather than cream)
Tiramisu (a cake flavoured with coffee with a crust of pre-done wafers, covered with cream)
